DY6 Metals (ASX: DY6) has reported high-grade saprolite-hosted rutile from reconnaissance auger and channel sampling at its Central Rutile Project in Cameroon.

Results included intercepts up to 2.1% rutile over 1 metre at Nsimbo and 1.57% rutile over 1m at Alamba, confirming rutile as the dominant titanium-bearing mineral with negligible ilmenite and no leucoxene.

The mineralisation has been defined along a 41km strike between Nsimbo and Alamba, with ongoing soil and auger drilling programs expected to expand coverage.

High-Grade Potential Confirmed

Assay work by Scientific Services in Cape Town confirmed rutile grades of more than 2% from surface samples.

Channel results included 3.5m at 0.78% rutile with a 1m interval at 2.1% rutile, while auger drilling returned up to 0.96% rutile from surface.

X-ray diffraction analysis showed rutile as the dominant mineral in all tested samples, while the low presence of ilmenite and absence of leucoxene further highlight the favourable mineralogy.

Chief executive officer Cliff Fitzhenry said the assays demonstrated the scale of rutile mineralisation at surface, noting “an extensive strike area of approximately 41km of rutile mineralisation from surface to end of hole.”

Early Stage Programs

DY6 has so far focused its reconnaissance work on the Nsimbo and Alamba tenements, which sit within a broader 5,901 sq km licence package, and has already completed follow-up auger drilling of 24 holes for 238m in this area, and has dispatched samples for analysis.

Results from the ongoing soil sampling campaign of approximately 650 samples – of which DY6 has completed around 35% – will provide geochemical vectors to refine future drilling.

Management described the reconnaissance work as “just scratching the surface” of the project, with large areas still untested and several targets emerging for deeper in-situ mineralisation.

The Central Rutile Project lies within central Cameroon, a region increasingly recognised as a globally significant rutile province, with historical production from artisanal mining between the 1930s and 1950s yielding more than 15,000 tonnes of high-purity rutile.

The project also borders Lion Rock Minerals’ (ASX: LRM) Minta project, where sampling has shown rutile and other valuable heavy minerals to be widespread, supporting the broader view that central Cameroon can become a globally important rutile district.

Auger Program Assays

DY6 is preparing assays from the recent auger program, and expects the results due in coming months to help delineate priority zones for expanded drilling.

The company plans to continue systematic soil sampling and follow-up auger campaigns to map out the extent and continuity of mineralisation.

Mr Fitzhenry said the company believes its large licence area represents “a highly prospective target for deep, in-situ hosted rutile mineralisation,” and confirmed it is fast-tracking exploration efforts.

With favourable early results, supportive geology and a large tenement footprint, DY6 is positioning the Central Rutile Project as a potential new source of natural rutile in a tightening global market.
