Dundas Minerals (ASX: DUN) has defined high-grade gold intercepts at its Windanya and Baden-Powell projects approximately 60 kilometres north of the Western Australian mining centre of Kalgoorlie.

The company plans to deepen a previously-drilled hole by a further 150m after resampling of assays from the final 6m of the hole returned 9.5 grams per tonne of gold.

The company elected to undertake the resampling program after it was determined there may have been an error in the initial assay tests.

Misnumbered sample

The company reported in early July 2024 that an end-of-hole 2m composite sample returned an assay of 3.142 g/t gold.

However, it was subsequently determined that the result was actually for the preceding 4m interval, with the error caused by the misnumbering of the sample on submission to the assay laboratory.

The promising new results have encouraged the company to now double the length of the hole to up to 300m.

Dundas is also planning to drill two additional reverse circulation (RC) drill holes up to 300m deep south-west of hole 24WDRC015 in the northern part of the Aquarius gold prospect.

The company identified Aquarius as a significant follow-up target after it obtained very high-grade gold up to 696 parts per billion in auger sample anomalies in November 2023.

New drill campaign

Dundas has already received program of work approvals for the additional drilling, which is expected to commence in September.

Dundas reported it had successfully wrapped up its second RC drilling program at Windanya in early May 2024.

The drilling program comprised 19 holes and was designed to test six areas for primary gold mineralisation at depth.

The program finished slightly ahead of schedule due to better-than-forecast drilling performance, excellent drill rig availability and favourable weather conditions.

It followed the success of the company’s initial program at Windanya that was announced in February 2024 and earlier high-grade soil sample results announced in November 2023.
