Drilling at Brandy Hill South intersects massive copper sulphides for Recharge Metals
Diamond drilling at Recharge Metals’ (ASX: REC) Brandy Hill South project in Western Australia’s Murchison province has intersected ultramafic, high-magnesium basalts to end of hole.
Massive sulphide, brecciated zones of semi-massive sulphide and disseminated visual copper sulphide mineralisation was also observed from 92m depth to end of hole.
Three holes were selected to be extended with diamond tails to provide additional structural and lithological information.
One of the holes was drilled beyond the planned depth of 300m to 393m due to the presence of sulphides beyond the target zone.
Drilling intersected intense hydrothermal alteration including carbonate, chlorite, epidote, quartz and sericite across the lithological sequence.
Copper minerals such as chalcopyrite were observed throughout the drill hole.
The presence of copper was supported by infield readings taken using a portable x-ray fluorescence instrument (pXRF).
Observations in the diamond drill core confirmed the host rocks at Brandy Hill South are fertile.
Recharge expects the core to assist in understanding the nature of the project’s primary mineralisation as well as the apparent supergene mineralisation identified within oxide and transition zones of the weathered profile.
Diamond results
Managing director Brett Wallace said he was encouraged by the diamond results.
“It is an outstanding result to observe abundant copper sulphide mineralisation from 92m to end of hole at 393m,” he said.
“This program was planned to provide valuable structural and lithological information which will allow us to evaluate the continuity of mineralisation and the nature of the primary mineralisation at Brandy Hill South.”
Maiden drilling
Recharge ran a maiden drilling campaign at Brandy Hill South in January, with 20 reverse circulation holes completed for a total 3,374m.
Best results returned from the first four holes were 12m at 1.20% copper from 74m, including 4m at 2.87% from 74m; 1m at 5.92% copper from 147m; 32m at 0.49% copper from 65m; 10m at 0.71% copper from 69m; and 16m at 0.41% copper from 78m including 1m at 1.46% from 87m.
Assays are pending for the campaign’s remaining 16 holes.
