Dreadnought Resources ASX DRE Orion discovery grows latest assays copper silver gold cobalt

A highlight intercept from Orion was 20m at 1.4% copper, 13.4g/t silver, 0.5g/t gold and 0.03% cobalt from 3m, including 3m at 7.6% copper, 116g/t silver, 2.2g/t gold and 0.14% cobalt from 18m.

Dreadnought Resources’ (ASX: DRE) Orion discovery has continued to impress with assays revealing more wide and high-grade ore zones have been unearthed at the prospect.

Mineralisation at Orion has now been confirmed to start 1m from surface to 150m down dip. It also has been defined over 240m of strike and remains open at depth and along strike.

A highlight drill hole at Orion intercepted 12m at 3% copper, 21.4 grams per tonne silver, 1.7g/t gold and 0.02% cobalt from 1m, including 5m at 5.9% copper, 44.9g/t silver, 3.7g/t gold and 0.01% cobalt.

Another hole hit 20m at 1.4% copper, 13.4g/t silver, 0.5g/t gold and 0.03% cobalt from 3m, including 3m at 7.6% copper, 116g/t silver, 2.2g/t gold and 0.14% cobalt from 18m.

Peak grades uncovered at Orion to-date comprise 12.5% copper, 192g/t silver, 34.2g/t gold, 1.66% cobalt and 4.3% zinc.

Geophysical modelling of the discovery indicates the mineralised body could extend at least 500m deep.

Dreadnought managing director Dean Tuck said the company had only begun to scratch the surface of its Orion discovery.

“Furthermore, interpretation of the mineralisation system appears to be similar in character to the magmatic-hydrothermal deposits in the Mt Isa region of Queensland.”

“This will form a working hypothesis for future targeting and interpretation of results.”

Mr Tuck pointed out the company has proven low impact and shallow auger drilling can be used to screen targets prior to reverse circulation drilling.

“This will also provide an invaluable tool to assist in unlocking this developing mineral province.”

Tarraji-Yampi project

Orion is just one target within the wider Tarraji-Yampi project which is located in Western Australia’s west Kimberley.

Heading into 2022, Dreadnaught’s goal will be to deliver resources for Orion and its other prospect Grant’s Find.

Resource drilling at Orion and Grant’s Find is expected to begin in June.

In the interim, the company plans to gather and consolidate its geophysical data and undertake re-modelling of its targets.

Metallurgical test work will also be carried out with reverse circulation drilling to begin in August at other high-ranking targets. This will follow auger sampling and geophysical surveys.
