Online beverage supplier Digital Wine Ventures (ASX: DW8) has set a new record in orders processed through its wine distribution business WineDepot.

The company has reported a total of 4,726 orders in September, representing a 14% increase on August orders.

The number of cases shipped during the month was lower than the previous month’s record 8,488 cases, but still higher than all other prior months at more than 7,000.

Digital Wine Ventures said the reason for the drop in cases shipped was predominantly due to a lower average number of cases shipped per order.

New brands join WineDepot platform

WineDepot also welcomed 17 new customers representing a total of 34 new brands onto its integrated trading and logistics platform, bringing the total number of brands using the platform to 126.

New brands include iconic Clare Valley wine producer Kilikanoon Wines and other South Australian wineries Corduroy Wines, Muster Wine Co and Rusty Mutt Wines, plus Kreglinger Wine Estates in Tasmania and other imported brands.

In addition, the company signed up its first national distributor, Saint Wine, which has a portfolio of local brands as well as brands imported from New Zealand, France and Italy.

Along with wine, WineDepot welcomed four new craft spirit and beverage producers to its platform: Ampersand Projects, Dancing Sands Distillery, Bottled Creations and Formula Bev.

New Zealand expansion

WineDepot’s expansion into New Zealand is already showing promise with five New Zealand wineries signing up to the platform.

The brands include Chard Farm, Hancock & Sons, Spy Valley/Envoy, Squawking Magpie Wines and The National Distillery.

Digital Wine Ventures said the brands are just the first in what it expects to be a growing contingent of New Zealand beverage brands adding to the platform.

Today’s update follows recent news that Digital Wine Ventures will be rolling out temperature-controlled storage at WineDepot’s facilities across Australia and introducing Credit-as-a-Service to users of WineDepot’s direct-to-trade marketplace when it launches later this year.
