DeSoto Resources Confirms Major Gold-Bearing Zone in Guinea’s Siguiri Basin

DeSoto Resources (ASX: DES) has confirmed a substantial gold-bearing zone at the Dadjan Grand Plateau within the Siguiri Basin in the West African nation of Guinea.
The company has received final shallow power auger results from an infill program at its Dadjan project, part of the examination DeSoto recently conducted at its Siguiri land holding, with additional exploration across the Tole, Moiko, Alamankono, Oromo, Falama and Dabidiana projects.
Highlight gold assay results from the shallow 56-hole power auger program at Dadjan Grand Plateau included 10 metres at 1.61 grams per tonne, 6m at 2.55g/t, 2m at 2.38g/t, and 2m at 1.81 g/t.
Gold-Bearing Zone
The Dadjan results identified a substantial gold-bearing zone that persists to at least 20m depth, with mineralisation remaining open to the north at Grand Plateau.
As a follow-up, DeSoto has commenced a trenching program over zones of high-grade surficial gold mineralisation at the Main Zone and Grand Plateau targets.
The company has also initiated a 100m by 50m spaced soil sampling program at the north-east zone of a gold-in-soil anomalism at the Tole gold project.
Recent Power-Auger Hit
DeSoto is targeting identified zones of high-grade mineralisation, including the 8m by 18g/t gold power-auger hit the company recently reported.
Exploration work at Tole has identified two 400m by 400m zones with continuous gold mineralisation grading as high as 71.2g/t.
DeSoto will now use soil sampling to infill and extend the current sampling pattern so as to better define zones it plans to follow up, including three areas of artisanal workings it is yet to examine.
Positive Quarterly Exploration
The recent successes at Dajan and Tole follow an active period of exploration during the quarter ended June 30 that saw DeSoto make material progress across its West African assets.
Highlights included first‐pass work at Tole that uncovered a gold‐in‐soil anomaly of 1.3 km by 0.25 km with peak values of 7.1g/t and sampling at Dajan during the quarter that extended the principal gold‐in‐soil anomaly to 3.6km in length, with the zone remaining open to the north.
Elsewhere, the company confirmed three parallel shear‐hosted corridors at Timbakouna with a combined strike length of 3.7km and evaluated additional licence applications and partnership avenues to consolidate its Siguiri Basin footprint.
