A maiden drilling program by Dalaroo Metals (ASX: DAL) has outlined gold mineralisation at the Goodbody West prospect within the Lyons River project in Western Australia.

The aircore program aimed to test the down-dip extension of surface mineralisation defined through geological mapping and surface sampling completed last year.

A total of 19 holes were completed for 867 metres on five north-to-south traverses covering 300m strike, to a maximum vertical depth of 42m.

Drilling in the eastern part of the prospect, below the main area of outcropping mineralisation, intercepted several zones of sub-parallel, moderately north-dipping quartz veins within a sequence of pelitic schist and lesser interbedded psammitic rocks.

The mineralisation is reported to have shown over a length of at least 200m, open at strike and at depth.

Drilling results

Best results were 5m at 0.85 grams per tonne gold from 9m including 1m at 1.83g/t from 9m and 1m at 1.23g/t from 12m, 1m at 0.98g/t gold from 3m, 1m at 1.17g/t gold from 19m and 19m at 0.23g/t gold from 24m.

They join better rock-chip gold assays received to date with grades of 6.25g/t, 5.52g/t and 1.70g/t.

Robust anomalies contained peak values of 132 parts per billion gold at Goodbody West, 93ppb at Goodbody Central and 50ppb at Goodbody East.

The footprint of the Goodbody prospects sits within a broader, 6 km-long, gold in soil anomaly at a 2ppb threshold.

Gold discovery

Dalaroo managing director Harjinder Kehal was pleased with the results of the first program at Goodbody.

“Our maiden drill program has delivered a gold discovery by testing below the high-grade, gold-bearing, outcropping quartz veins at this prospect,” he said.

“We believe the Lyons River project tenure has potential for the delineation of new gold prospects over its strike distance of 30km.”

Turbo Well target

In November, Dalaroo announced the discovery of a new gold target at Turbo Well with gold-in-soil anomalism extending over a strike length of 2km.

A peak value of 47ppb gold was defined from results of historical soil sampling and follow-up sampling last year.

Mr Kehal said maiden drill testing would be completed at Turbo Well once a suitable drill rig becomes available.
