A notable intercept at Maroochydore was 38m at 1.04% copper and 508ppm cobalt from 82m.

Copied

Initial drilling at Cyprium Metals’ (ASX: CYM) Maroochydore deposit in Western Australia’s Pilbara region has extended the resource potential of the massive copper-cobalt oxide project.

The base metals explorer completed 50 reverse circulation holes for a total of 6,218m, comprising 46 resource definition and extension holes for 5,990m and four water monitoring bores for 228m.

Drilling extended the deposit’s near-surface mineralisation to 3,000m in length, up to 500m in width and up to 100m in thickness.

Copper-cobalt results

Significant copper results were 38m at 1.04% copper and 508 parts per million cobalt from 82m, including 20m at 1.60% copper and 794ppm cobalt from 86m; 61m at 0.92% copper and 543ppm cobalt from 71m, including 5m at 1.39% copper and 795ppm cobalt from 73m, 4m at 1.92% copper and 794ppm cobalt from 90m, and 13m at 1.77% copper and 818ppm cobalt from 96m.

Other intercepts were 61m at 0.35% copper and 203ppm cobalt from 56m, including 2m at 0.45% copper and 146ppm cobalt from 62m, 5m at 0.46% copper and 244ppm cobalt from 69m, 4m at 1.27% copper and 212ppm cobalt from 88m, and 6m at 0.46% copper and 342ppm cobalt from 102m.

Highlight cobalt results were 22m at 0.19% copper and 529ppm cobalt from 25m, including 4m at 0.16% copper and 1,659ppm cobalt from 42m; 35m at 0.31% copper and 743ppm cobalt from 39m, including 7m at 0.48% copper and 1,775ppm cobalt from 48m, and 6m at 0.54% copper and 1,186ppm cobalt from 60m.

Proving prospectivity

Cyprium managing director Barry Cahill said the copper-cobalt results continue to prove the deposit’s prospectivity.

“Repeated significant intersections demonstrate the robust and size of Maroochydore,” he said.

“Our initial work targeted the oxide zones and has returned better than expected results we look forward to further developing the oxide and sulphide resource base of this large greenfield project in the next phase of drilling.”

Maroochydore is currently the eighth largest copper development project in Australia, ranked by contained copper metal.
