Crowd Media Holdings (ASX: CM8) will have a new chief steering the ship as it moves into its next growth phase with the appointment of Idan Schmorak to lead the company.

Mr Schmorak’s appointment of chief executive officer will take effect from 20 September.

Crowd chairman Steven Schapera said the board was “delighted” to appoint Mr Schmorak to lead the company’s next growth phase as it aims to commercialise its artificial intelligence (AI) driven Talking Head platform next year.

“His substantial experience in avatar and AI technology, and business development, is just what Crowd needs in a chief executive officer to drive the Talking Head platform and its conversational commerce capabilities,” Mr Schapera added.

Previous experience

He is currently director of business development at an Israeli-based start-up incubator and investment firm VFR Holdings.

In this position, Mr Schmorak has driven product and service growth, and assisted in boosting sales revenue and leading the marketing function across the company’s initiatives including the Talking Head team under the VFR joint venture with Crowd.

Mr Schmorak’s other prior experience includes serving in the Israeli air force for 7.5 years where he rose to the rank of captain.

During his time with the air force, Mr Schmorak was a mission control officer that involved various operational decision-making responsibilities in an unpredictable, highly demanding work environment that included overseeing dozens of soldiers and other officers.

Mr Schmorak has a Bachelor of Economics and Business Management from Israel’s private research college IDC Herzliya and is fluent in four languages.

“Having witnessed the development of Crowd’s AI Q&A platform, I am excited to fully concentrate on the platform’s development alongside Crowd’s investee partners,” Mr Schmorak said.

“Crowd has developed a substantial data bank of conversations which would take other players years to develop.”

“I look forward to driving new applications of Crowd’s AI to solver real-world communication problems, and opening up the new commercial opportunities for this disruptive technology,” he added.
