Barely a few months since listing on the ASX, building material developer ClearVue Technologies (ASX: CPV) has “taken the next step on its commercialisation path” by confirming certification of its solar window technology to Australian Standard AS 2047.

The accreditation paves the way for ClearVue to market its range of products across Australia and considered as a “giant leap forward for the company” according to its executive chairman Victor Rosenberg.

The AS 2047 specification is mandatory for all windows and doors products sold in Australia and therefore includes a series of tests to achieve suitable standards for Australian consumers.

Some of the tests conducted on ClearVue’s solar window included deflection, water penetration, strength, air and force tests that ensure its products are durable and fit for purpose.

A clear future with solar windows

ClearVue operates in the Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) sector which involves incorporating solar technology into glass and building surfaces to produce renewable energy.

The company’s “smart building material” patented technology was jointly developed with leading experts from the Electron Science Research Institute at Edith Cowan University (ECU) in Perth and consists of a glass lamination interlayer doped with inorganic micro and nano-particles.

In order to maximise its consumer market sales, ClearVue is sequentially obtaining the required industry accreditation in Australia, Europe and the US.

In addition to its AS 2047 certification, ClearVue is separately undertaking AS 4284 certification-testing on its glass curtain wall product with the results expected to be provided next month. In Europe, ClearVue has also commenced CE Mark certification to enable its products to be sold in the EU. The results are expected to be received by the end of August 2018.

In the US, ClearVue says it intends to commence US certification in the “next quarter” [Q4 2018].

As part of its marketing effort, ClearVue has selected the ‘Fenestration Australia 2018’ conference in Port Douglas, Queensland on September 19-20 2018, to showcase its products and unique solar window technology.

The conference is organised by the Australian Window Association (AWA) – considered to be “the peak window industry body in Australia” made up of over 600 window manufacturers and industry suppliers throughout Australia.

“The accreditation by the AWA of the ClearVue window product to AS 2047 represents a giant leap forward for the company. With this step, we have now moved from being a research company into a commercial operation and are now able to commercialise our product in the Australian market. We are on track with the business plan outlined in our Prospectus and look forward to being able to announce to the market similar certifications and accreditations shortly,” said Mr Rosenberg.
