Classic Minerals reports high-grade gold hits from latest holes in Kat Gap drilling program

Exploration junior Classic Minerals (ASX: CLZ) has reported that the next 32 holes from a 109-hole infill drilling program at the Kat Gap project in Western Australia have continued to return high-grade gold intercepts.
The latest results come from infill reverse circulation holes located at the northern end of the drilling area.
Drilling was mostly concentrated on an area 100 metres to 300m north along strike of the cross-cutting Proterozoic dyke and and 200m north of the company’s recent bulk sample mining operation.
It was conducted on 10m by 10m, and 10m by 5m grid spacings to hit pinch and swell quartz veins observed during mining of the bulk sample pit and to gain a higher level of confidence in the overall status of the current resource block model.
The spacings ensured adequate intersection of higher-grade components of the gold ore zone and will permit an upgrade from the current inferred status to indicated, which is needed for final pit optimisation and design work.
The infill program will also dramatically reduce the number of grade-control reverse circulation holes required in pit once operations are underway.
Drilling results
Best results from the recent 32 holes were 1m at 47.50 grams per tonne gold from 20m; 1m at 23.90g/t gold from 64m; 2m at 14.86g/t gold from 29m, including 1m at 25.50g/t from 29m; 6m at 4.08g/t gold from 48m, including 1m at 11.50g/t from 52m; 6m at 3.10g/t gold from 60m, including 1m at 14.10g/t from 60m; 5m at 2.56g/t gold from 29m; and 5m at 2.23g/t gold from 10m.
Classic said 42 holes for 3,135m remain to be drilled of the total 7,110m program.
A total 78 holes for 4,655m have been completed to date.
The remaining holes are expected to be completed within the next three weeks.
Unmined deposit
The Kat Gap project contains a shallow unmined gold deposit located 170km south of Southern Cross which was discovered in the 1990s and was the subject of a scoping study by the former Sons of Gwalia in 2003.
It is located 50km south of Classic’s Forrestania gold project.
