Chalice Mining remains on track to release Gonneville pre-feasibility study by year-end

Chalice Mining (ASX: CHN) has confirmed it remains on target to release the results of a pre-feasibility study (PFS) for its high-class Gonneville multi-element project in Western Australia by year-end.
Discovered in 2020 just 70 kilometres north of Perth, the deposit has since emerged as one of Australia’s most significant critical minerals finds of the past decade due to its substantial critical mineral resources.
Gonneville’s multi-element make-up of platinum group elements (PGE), along with nickel, copper and cobalt gives the project high strategic value.
Mitsubishi PFS agreement
Increased global interest in Gonneville became evident in July 2024 when Chalice signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with giant Japanese conglomerate Mitsubishi to work together on the PFS.
This work commenced in mid-2023 with the aim of assessing the technical viability of the project, selecting a preferred staged development pathway to progress into a feasibility study and delivering an economic evaluation that holds up against a range of macro-economic assumptions.
Chalice said it remains on track to complete the study in Q4 CY25.
Site conceptual plan
As part of the PFS, Chalice has finalised a site conceptual plan including the location of the open-pit, processing plant and non-processing infrastructure.
All mine and process infrastructure will be located on the company’s 22 sq km landholding, which sits predominantly in cleared farmland.
Chalice also revealed that it is making good progress with regulatory approvals, with draft environmental review documents on target for submission in mid-CY26.
Government designation
The WA and federal governments awarded Gonneville ‘strategic project’ and ‘major project’ status in 2024.
The designations recognised the project’s scale and strategic importance to the development of Australia’s critical minerals industry.
Chalice continues to engage with potential offtake and financing partners for Gonneville and expects to make a final investment decision regarding the project in late 2027.
