Cannindah Resources (ASX: CAE) has returned outstanding copper-gold-molybdenum geochemistry in trenching of the Appletree and Dunno prospects within the Southern Target Zone of its Mt Cannindah project in central Queensland.

Previous soil and rock chip data supports the results, which occurred over an area measuring 500 metres x 100m within the wider Southern Target footprint.

The company also observed a strong chargeability induced polarisation anomaly coincident with the trench results at a depth of approximately 200m below surface, along with a strong magnetic response.

Trenching Assay Highlights

Best trenching assays were 61 metres at 1.08% copper equivalent (CuEq) including 0.94% copper, 0.22 grams per tonne gold and 141 parts per million molybdenum from 0m to 61m, and 38m at 0.30% CuEq including 0.24% copper, 0.08g/t gold and 49ppm molybdenum from 90m to 128m.

Other highlights were 46m at 0.64% CuEq including 0.52% copper, 0.19g/t gold and 98ppm molybdenum from 0m to 46m; 51m at 0.42% CuEq including 0.36% copper, 0.07g/t gold and 41ppm molybdenum from 0m to 51m; and 58m at 0.35% CuEq including 0.29% copper, 0.08g/t gold and 83ppm molybdenum from 0m to 58m.

Intrusive phases from 28 channel samples Cannindah mapped within the trenches at Appletree averaged 0.52% copper, 0.08g/t gold and 141ppm molybdenum.

Neither the Appletree nor Dunno prospect has ever seen prior drill testing.

Mt Cannindah Potential

Cannindah chair Michael Hansels said the latest trench results were a testament to the potential of the Mt Cannindah project.

“The Southern Target is located at the lowest topographical elevation within our granted mining leases, and it is clear that this has a significant impact in relation to the exposure level of this system,” he said.

“These results verify the pencil porphyry concept, which bodes well for the development of other preserved porphyry systems at higher elevations beneath other high-order geological, geochemical, and geophysical anomalies.”

The company’s current reverse circulation program will continue, as the rig moves from resource extension drilling at the Mt Cannindah Breccia to drill testing the “potentially transformational” Eastern and Southern Porphyry Targets.
