Battery Minerals (ASX: BAT) has identified further intrusion-related gold (IRG) mineralisation potential with new drilling results from the Stavely-Stawell gold-copper project in Victoria.

The company is enthused about the IRG potential uncovered in new shallow, wide, open gold intercepts it has observed at the Frankfurt prospect at Stavely-Stawell.

Highlight results include the identification of a strong gold anomalism in adjacent drillholes which collectively define an approximately 160m and open target zone, including 27m at 0.62 grams per tonne (g/t) gold to end of hole (23BATAC022) and 8m at 0.79 g/t gold to end of hole.

Coxs Find drilling

Current drilling at Coxs Find is testing a priority target with recent IP geophysics defining coincident chargeability and resistivity geophysical anomalies down dip from strong multipoint, surface gold anomaly up to 430 g/t gold in rockchips.

To date drilling has been focused at Coxs Find and Coxs Find North, where visible gold has been identified at Coxs Find North and features consistent with an intrusion-related gold system (IRGS) have been noted.

IRG mineralisation is known to be strongly represented in the White Rabbit District thanks to the Wonga and Pogo deposits located in the area.

The White Rabbit District lies along the same regional, northeast trending structural corridor that contains the Wonga deposit.

Frankfurt and Cosmopolitan testing next

Battery Minerals has now turned its focus to the Frankfurt and Cosmopolitan Prospects, where diamond drilling is testing multiple IRG targets.

The Coxs Find North, Frankfurt and Cosmopolitan targets in the White Rabbit District are hosted within the intrusive complex (intrusive-hosted) and are considered prospective for sheeted vein and disseminated-style mineralisation, whereas Coxs Find considered prospective for veining and replacement style mineralisation.

Shallow aircore drilling has defined an approximately 160m wide open target zone at Frankfurt Prospect containing gold intercepts.

Diamond drilling has kicked off at the Frankfurt Prospect, with Battery Minerals currently operating two rigs in the White Rabbit District.

Frankfurt prospect targets

Target definition at the Frankfurt Prospect is investigating mineralisation associated with a strong tellurium-bismuth-molybdenum (Te-Bi-Mo) multielement pathfinder signature.

The results from the latest work will assist planning for future diamond drilling along with potentially identifying further evidence of multiple IRG targets in the White Rabbit District where Stavely-Stawell is located.

Battery Minerals’ strategy is to assess multiple priority intrusion-related gold targets in the White Rabbit District, including the Coxs Find, Coxs Find North, Frankfurt and Cosmopolitan Prospects.

The company has confirmed it has now received aircore results from 61 holes for a total of 2,771 metres of drilling.

Stavely-Stawell project background

The Stavely-Stawell project is contained in a single exploration licence (EL6871) covering a 65km strike of the Stawell Gold Corridor and northern extents of the Stavely-Dryden Belt in western Victoria.

The project is considered highly prospective for gold, as evidenced by the nearby multimillion ounce Stawell Gold Mine, and copper.
