Azure Minerals’ winning streak at Andover continues with further nickel and copper hits
A highlight intercept from the latest assay batch was 33.5m at 0.98% nickel, 0.39% copper and 0.04% cobalt from 452m, including 3.5m at 2.18% nickel, 0.71% copper and 0.10% cobalt.
Azure Minerals’ (ASX: AZS) winning streak at Andover has continued with more high-grade nickel and copper uncovered and known mineralisation extended at VC-07.
The company has received assays from recently completed drilling across the VC-07 target within the project.
To-date 54 holes have been drilled at VC-07 including 43 holes at VC-07 East and 11 holes at VC-07 West.
In the latest assay batch, highlight results from VC-07 West were 4.5m at 3.95% nickel, 0.80% copper and 0.16% cobalt from 486.6m; and 7.5m at 1.39% nickel, 0.45% copper and 0.06% cobalt from 601.6m, including 3.4m at 2.01% nickel, 0.43% copper and 0.09% cobalt from 605.2m.
Over at VC-07 East, broader mineralised zones were unearthed with drilling demonstrating mineralisation is at least 550m by 300m and remains open.
Notable results at this target were 33.5m at 0.98% nickel, 0.39% copper and 0.04% cobalt from 452m, including 3.5m at 2.18% nickel, 0.71% copper and 0.10% cobalt from 482m; and 29.1m at 0.92% nickel, 0.40% copper and 0.04% cobalt from 491m, including 10.7m at 1.32% nickel, 0.43% copper and 0.05% cobalt from 491m.
Commenting on the latest results, Azure managing director Tony Rovira said the company was “very excited” by its continued success at Andover.
“As with our earlier drilling, these latest mineralised intersections are coincident with electromagnetic conductors, confirming the strong association of nickel-copper-sulphide mineralisation with EM conductance,” he said.
Shaping up to be ‘substantial deposit’
Mr Rovira noted there were numerous nearby EM conductors that remain to be drilled at the project.
“The eastern part of the VC-07 corridor is shaping up to host a substantial nickel-copper sulphide deposit,” he added.
Azure is awaiting assays for 18 holes drilled at VC-07.
All up across Andover, 62 diamond holes have been completed for 28,909m.
Results are expected to underpin a mineral resource.
Today’s results follow on from highlight results at VC-07 released during the June quarter of 11.6m at 1.01% nickel and 0.32% copper from 455.9m; and 33.1m at 1.02% nickel and 0.53% copper from 434.5m, including 16.7m at 1.67% nickel and 0.88% copper from 434.5m.
