Executive Mining Group to lead next stage of Aston Minerals’ Edleston development

Executive Mining Group is a multidisciplinary team of experienced mining executives which have collaborated on mining operations for over 20 years.
A highly experienced management team comprising the Executive Mining Group (EGM) will be assisting Aston Minerals (ASX: ASO) in delivering the next stage of development at the Edleston project in Canada.
The experienced nickel mining executives, along with Peter Breese and Russel Bradford, will be instrumental in leading the transition of Aston’s Boomerang nickel-copper sulphide resource through the requisite metallurgical testing and study phases through to project status.
They are the same people who were responsible for the evolution of LionOre Mining into a multi-jurisdiction player which was bought out in 2007 by Russia’s Norilsk Nickel for $7.58 billion.
Their combined expertise covers exploration, feasibility studies, construction, development, commissioning and operation of multiple large-scale, disseminated nickel sulphide resources, including the low-grade Phoenix nickel mine in Botswana.
Aston said the team specialises in driving the “best sustainable value outcomes” for each project by implementing the full spectrum of business, operation systems and practices which create a high-performance mining company.
Executive chairman appointment
As part of the efforts to lead Edleston through to the next stage, Aston has appointed EGM’s co-owner and director Mr Breese to the role of executive chair.
Mr Breese has more than 30 years’ experience in the global mining industry and a track record of project development and operations management.
His most recent role was president and chief executive officer of Asanko Gold, during which time he supervised the acquisition of former ASX-listed PMI Gold and the financing, construction and commissioning of the Asanko gold mine in Ghana within budget and ahead of schedule.
During his career, Mr Breese has held several executive, senior management and board positions.
New managing director
Russell Bradford has been appointed to the role of managing director of Aston.
Mr Bradford has over 35 years’ mining experience and held executive roles in nickel operations and project development with companies in Africa, Australia and North America.
He has played a key role in the development of significant projects for listed mining companies around the world.
Effective immediately, Aston’s Tolga Kumova and Rob Jewson have transitioned to non-executive director roles and Dale Ginn has resigned from the board but will continue to support the company in a consulting capacity.
