Property management-foucsed technology company AssetOwl (ASX: AO1) has made two key hires to support the roll-out of its Pirsee inspection management platform across Australia’s east coast.

The company has announced the appointments of Diego Tognola, to lead the development team as head of engineering, and James Heys, who was recently welcomed as head of product.

With these new appointments in place, chief technology officer Giuseppe Di Franco has now stepped down from his position and plans to retire as a non-executive director.

In addition to driving Pirsee’s east coast roll-out, AssetOwl said the expansion of its team aims to shift the company from platform building to platform sales.

The company is currently working on several initiatives designed to stoke organic growth including the release of New South Wales and Queensland-compliant versions of Pirsee, further routine inspection upgrades in response to customer feedback, and improvements to its Smart Condition Report (the digital sharing of property condition reports).

Mr Tognola brings two decades of engineering experience

As head of engineering, Mr Tognola will be responsible for ensuring AssetOwl’s products and solutions are fit for market. This includes assuming responsibility for all technical aspects of Pirsee, from product development to the technologies used to build and deploy the platform.

Mr Tognola brings to the company more than 20 years of engineering experience in a variety of organisations within Australia and overseas.

“This is a key hire for the organisation as the need to service AssetOwl’s growing customer base becomes greater, and we look to leverage the technology in to new markets,” the company stated.

Mr Tognola will commence his position in October.

Mr Heys brings strong capability in scaling products

Mr Heys will drive AssetOwl’s product strategy, with a particular focus on improving customer experience, and in the longer term, exploring opportunities to expand the company’s offering.

He has been described by AssetOwl as a “pragmatic and innovative product leader” with 14 years of experience working on Software-as-a-System (SaaS), business-to-business (B2B) and enterprise software solutions.

“James brings strong capability in building scalable products and driving product market fit,” the company stated.

Further team expansion

Adding to these two key hires, AssetOwl has recently welcomed a Melbourne-based customer success manager to lay the groundwork for Pirsee’s east coast expansion.

It is also in advanced negotiations to bring on a new sales manager to drive expansion particularly as the Queensland and NSW versions come online.

AssetOwl said it anticipates the filling of this position with a targeted start date of late August/early September.

Co-founder’s retirement

Mr Di Franco will continue to provide strategic oversight and advice to the business, in which he retains a significant interest. AssetOwl said his planned retirement had been planned for a long time for personal and professional reasons.

“As a co-founder of the business and a strong driver of its vision, Giuseppe has been instrumental in establishing the technological roadmap of the company,” AssetOwl chairman Simon Trevisan said.

“Giuseppe’s vision and passion are behind what the company has become. I also want to thank him for persevering to enable a managed handover with the recruitment of the new key staff in heads of engineering and product,” he added.
