- 01XRG wins first US Marine Corps OP-2 order.
- 02First commercial sale; contract value is not material.
- 03Delivery due Q2 FY27, boosting US defence prospects.
xReality Group (ASX: XRG) has secured its first order from the United States Marine Corps (USMC) through wholly owned subsidiary Operator XR, marking the first commercial sale of its OP-2 Interceptor counter-small unmanned aircraft systems (C-sUAS) training platform.
The order covers OP-2 Interceptor systems configured for the USMC’s counter-drone training requirements including software licences, integrated training hardware, and 12 months of software support and updates.
Delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of the 2027 financial year and, while the contract value is not material to the group, the sale establishes the USMC as a military reference customer for OP-2 Interceptor as Operator XR pursues a broader C-sUAS training pipeline across the US Department of Defense and allied forces.
The deal follows a period of demonstrations and evaluations across numerous Marine Corps units, with feedback from those engagements helping shape the product.
Portable Training Platform
Built on Operator XR’s portable virtual reality training platform, OP-2 Interceptor allows single or multiple users to develop and rehearse counter-drone tactics, techniques, and procedures without relying on live drones or fixed facilities.
The system provides a configurable library of drone threats, including armed first-person-view, surveillance and reconnaissance drones, while instructors can plan routes, set attack profiles and adjust drone behaviour in real time.
Training can use simulated counter-drone weapons including shotguns and rifles, with instructors able to review engagements using data covering shot accuracy, weapon angles, and field of view.
The product operates fully off-line and can be deployed without fixed facilities, giving Operator XR a portable training option for units seeking repeatable counter-drone instruction.
“Securing our first order from the USMC is a significant milestone for Operator XR, and it is fitting that it comes with the first sale of OP-2 Interceptor,” chief executive officer Wayne Jones said.
Military Customer Base
The order arrives as the US military broadens counter-drone capability beyond specialist teams, with small drones described by xReality as one of the most prevalent threats to ground forces in recent conflicts.
The USMC introduced its first C-sUAS training lanes into its Service Level Training Exercise program at Twentynine Palms in July 2026 as dismounted counter-drone equipment was being fielded to operational units.
The latest sale complements the company’s existing US military customer base, which includes the Air Force, Space Force, and Army National Guard.
The group’s stated strategy is to grow its presence in international defence and law enforcement markets, with OP-2 Interceptor adding a dedicated counter-drone training product to that push.
