Vection Technologies Secures Government Funding Across Four Applied AI Programs

Vection Technologies (ASX: VR1) has received $1.2 million in non-repayable, non-dilutive government funding across four active Research and Development (R&D) programs spanning AI, extended reality (XR), digital health, and accessibility technologies.

The cash will support Vection’s existing product roadmap, expand collaboration opportunities, and strengthen working capital as the company develops technology across four targeted innovation projects.

The programs cover Inclusive AI and sign language translation through L4ALL, cultural and museum AI through URGO ISI, immersive heritage visualisation through AVATART Calabria, and AI-powered digital health rehabilitation through OMNIREHAB.

Vection is working with research institutions including University College London (UCL), the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), the University of Milano-Bicocca, the University of Calabria, and Università Telematica Internazionale Uninettuno.

Applied Technology Programs

L4ALL is developing next-generation AI for automatic translation of multimedia content into sign language through Vection’s Text-to-LIS platform and Formal SignWriting (FSW), with partners including Mediavoice, ITCentric, Università Uninettuno, and CNR LACAM.

URGO ISI is focused on an adaptive conversational AI platform for museums that can manage visitor interactions across different cultural backgrounds and communication styles, with UCL, CNR, University of Milano-Bicocca, and Oversonic Robotics among the partners.

AVATART Calabria combines AI-powered 3D avatars and holographic visualisation technologies to create immersive cultural heritage experiences in partnership with the University of Calabria and Stark S.r.l.

OMNIREHAB is developing an AI-powered remote rehabilitation platform combining Motion Capture and XR for home-based cognitive and physical rehabilitation, with Vection co-ordinating the project alongside two healthcare cooperatives operating in Tuscany.

Existing Product Roadmap

The broader portfolio is aligned with the Algho AI platform, INTEGRATEDXR, and Vection’s accessibility and phygital hardware capabilities, linking the grant-backed work to products and technologies already within its roadmap.

The public funding was awarded following independently evaluated milestones and innovation criteria, with Vection describing the outcome as validation of the development work being undertaken with its research partners.

Vection expects technologies and capabilities developed through the four programs to feed into Algho AI and INTEGRATEDXR, while some activities are expected to generate standalone intellectual property.

“The achievement of the milestones that led to this funding confirmation demonstrates the high value of Vection’s development capabilities and confirms that the work being undertaken meets independently assessed standards, including at an international level,” managing director Gianmarco Biagi said.

“The R&D programs we are advancing through a combination of Vection’s own investment and government funding are how we ensure that the platform we are commercialising today continues to develop the capabilities our clients will require tomorrow.”

Partnerships Extend Reach

The partnerships provide Vection with specialist domain expertise across accessibility, cultural engagement, immersive heritage, and rehabilitation while linking development work directly to existing commercial platforms and hardware.

L4ALL includes Deaf community researchers through CNR LACAM, while URGO ISI combines academic and robotics expertise focused on adaptive museum interactions across different cultural and communication settings.

Vection plans to use the grant-backed work to continue developing its technology platform across FY27 while maintaining the mix of its own investment and government funding supporting the R&D pipeline.

Management describes the company as entering FY27 “commercially self-sustaining with positive operating cash flow and a very large sales pipeline”.
