Tambourah Metals begins airborne survey over Julimar North and Wongan Hills South

Tambourah Metals is focused on identifying anomalies prospective for nickel-copper-PGE mineralisation at Julimar North and Wongan Hills South.

Tambourah Metals (ASX: TMB) has begun a helicopter-based airborne magneto-telluric (MT) survey over priority targets at its Julimar North and Wongan Hills South (WH South) projects in Western Australia.

The company engaged Expert Geophysics to carry out the survey, which will prioritise the Bolgart and Yerecoin tenements at Julimar North along with targets at WH South.

According to Tambourah, MT is a passive geophysical survey that uses natural time variations of the earth’s magnetic and electric fields to measure the sub surface’s electrical resistivity. An electrical resistivity anomaly can indicate the presence of sulphides.

The survey will cover areas at the project where ultramafic rocks prospective for nickel have been identified.

At Bolgart the survey will follow-up on airborne gravity anomalies, which were generated at the start of the year.

Over at WH South, the survey will cover targets within a 5km radius of Caravel Minerals’ (ASX: CVV) copper-molybdenum-gold project.

The region has multiple magnetic anomalies.

Tambourah anticipates it will have interpreted the survey results within about six weeks.

Hunt for Julimar lookalike

Tambourah’s Yerecoin tenement was recently granted is about 120km northeast of Perth.

Yerecoin is believed prospective for nickel-copper-platinum group element mineralisation, similar to that of Chalice Mining’s (ASX: CHN) Julimar project in the region.

Julimar is a major polymetallic critical minerals project in WA and hosts the Gonneville deposit, which was only discovered in 2020.

Gonneville has resource of 350 million tonnes at 0.58% nickel equivalent for 11 million ounces of three PGE (3E), 560,000t of nickel and 360,000t copper and 54,000t of cobalt.

Within that estimate is a higher-grade sulphide component of 82Mt at 1% nickel equivalent.

Yerecoin is also 10km east of Caspin Resources’ (ASX: CPN) Yarawindah Brook nickel-PGE project. The Serradella discovery within Yarawindah has been likened to Gonneville, with Caspin saying it has all the hallmarks of a large-scale deposit.

Drilling at Serradella has uncovered 17m at 2.33g/t 4E and 0.17% nickel, including 3m at 6.04g/t 4E and 0.17% nickel.
