Sprintex (ASX: SIX) has secured a distribution agreement with Shing Yu Trading Co for the supply of its G-Series, GA, and GR high-speed oil-free jet blowers in Taiwan.
The three-year agreement appoints Shing Yu as the company’s exclusive regional distributor for a range of wastewater and effluent treatment applications, subject to a minimum $1.65 million annual purchase requirement.
Under the terms of the deal, Shing Yu will spearhead local business development, engineering integration, and regional client support
Sprintex, in turn, will provide comprehensive technical training, ongoing commissioning assistance, and co-branded marketing infrastructure.
The agreement gives Sprintex a local commercial and technical platform with Shing Yu for its various applications across Taiwan’s semiconductor and industrial markets.
Paid Trial Program
Shing Yu has placed an initial order for two GA37-835 blowers priced at $22,000 each for trial at a wastewater treatment facility owned by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC).
The program will evaluate Sprintex’s high-efficiency centrifugal blower technology as a potential replacement for legacy Roots-type blowers in round-the-clock wastewater aeration applications.
Key performance targets include up to 50% power savings compared to legacy systems, 100% oil-free air delivery through advanced air foil bearing technology, and stable continuous operation in demanding high-tech industrial environments.
Sprintex confirmed that any broader deployment across TSMC facilities would depend on the outcomes of technical evaluation, along with customer acceptance, commercial negotiations, and execution of binding purchase orders.
Water-Intensive Industry
Semiconductor manufacturing is one of the world’s most water-intensive industrial processes, where a single large fabrication can consume up to 38 million litres of water per day.
As the world’s largest dedicated independent semiconductor foundry, TSMC’s processes consumed approximately 101 billion litres of water in 2023.
However, the group has committed to becoming water positive by 2030.
This will require ongoing investment in water reuse, wastewater treatment, and reclamation infrastructure.
Route to Market
Sprintex managing director Jay Upton said the company looked forward to building on the relationship with the Shing Yu team.
“Taiwan’s semiconductor sector operates under significant water and energy-efficiency mandates, and our blower technology is well-positioned to address those requirements,” he said.
“This agreement with Shing Yu provides a focused route to market and the initial order gives us an opportunity to demonstrate our jet blowers in a continuous-duty wastewater application at TSMC.”
“Our immediate priority is supporting Shing Yu through the deployment and a successful technical evaluation.”
