Sprintex (ASX: SIX) has partnered with Jiangsu Bosiwei Chemical Equipment Engineering to co-develop a range of sub-3-tonne mechanical vapor recompression (MVR) systems for industrial applications in China.

The maiden project will target an energy-saving retrofit solution for major Chinese agriculture and biotech enterprise Hebei Yufeng Industrial.

The group specialises in large-scale deep corn processing, converting up to 8 million tonnes of raw grain per year into starches, sweeteners, animal feed, and high-value biochemicals.

Under the terms of the agreement, Sprintex’s 30 kilowatt MVR compressor technology will be specifically engineered as the core component of Bosiwei’s sub-3-tonne industrial systems to replace Yufeng’s energy-intensive 110kW legacy Roots blowers.

Bosiwei will lead the overall system integration, design, piping, PLC software configuration, and final site deployment.

Long-Term Agreement Potential

The upgraded system is expected to deliver significant energy savings for Yufeng, drastically lowering specific power consumption per tonne of steam recycled and reducing site operational expenditure.

Successful completion of the Yufeng benchmark project could lead to a long-term supply agreement, under which Bosiwei would receive exclusive matching integration status in China—potentially laying the foundation for widespread commercial adoption.

The co-development agreement expands the application of Sprintex’s MVR compressor platform into industrial evaporation in China and is consistent with the company’s broader strategy of working with established local partners to validate its technology and convert deployments into recurring product supply.

The strategic entry into China’s MVR sector positions the company within the world’s largest and fastest-growing market for industrial vapor compression and energy-efficiency equipment.

Managing director Jay Upton said the agreement would allow Sprintex to focus on supplying its core compressor technology to a new market while leveraging Bosiwei’s established engineering, system integration, and customer-facing capabilities to support broader deployment across China.

“This is consistent with our broader commercial strategy of working with established partners to validate Sprintex technology in demanding industrial applications and convert successful deployments into repeat product orders across multiple markets,” he added.

MVR Market Growth

The global MVR evaporator market is projected to reach $6.38 billion by 2035 at a 7.1% compound annual growth rate, while the global MVR compressor segment is forecast to reach more than $1.24 billion by the same time at an 8.49% CAGR.

The Asia-Pacific region accounts for up to 45% of total global MVR market share, and China leads global deployments with over 2,600 active operational installations across the chemical, pharmaceutical, and food processing industries.

The nation’s sub-3-tonne MVR market represents a rapidly expanding segment driven by stringent national environmental policies, mandatory zero liquid discharge requirements, and industrial decarbonisation targets.

More than 1,100 industrial evaporators worldwide are retrofitted with modern MVR modules each year, replacing legacy blowers with high-efficiency centrifugal compressors and typically yielding payback periods between three and five years.
