Southern Cross Electrical Engineering (ASX: SXE) has secured awards totalling $90 million across the data centre and rail sectors through various group subsidiaries.

The company will deliver a range of works on DigiCo Infrastructure REIT's expanded SYD1 data centre in Sydney's inner-city west, with three group businesses sharing the contract scope.

Southern Cross has also won the electrical and communications package for Sydney Metro's St Marys Station, part of the new Western Sydney Airport rail line.

The awards leverage multiple group capabilities—with Heyday, Force Fire, and Trivantage Manufacturing each contributing specialised services to the data centre expansion.

Multiple Disciplines Deployed

Heyday will design and construct low-voltage switchboards, busways, generators, and uninterruptible power supply systems at the SYD1 facility under a contract from SHAPE Australia, with work scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2026.

The company previously completed major electrical works at SYD1 in 2014 when it operated as Global Switch, returning in 2017 to deliver a significant power upgrade for Hutchinson Builders.

Force Fire will handle fire services design and construction, covering everything from hydrant and sprinkler systems through to emergency warning infrastructure and water mist installation.

Trivantage Manufacturing will supply seven sets of generator and UPS switchboards manufactured locally at the group's Sydney facilities, working closely with Heyday's engineering team on design integration.

St Marys Station Work

Webuild has issued Heyday with authorisation to proceed on the St Marys Station electrical and communications systems package, with the project connecting existing heavy rail infrastructure to the new Western Sydney Aerotropolis via the airport.

Heyday will draw on experience from the recently completed Sydney Metro Gadigal Station project for the St Marys delivery, which targets first quarter 2027 completion.

Trivantage Manufacturing will supply switchboards under a consortium-wide agreement previously announced in August 2025.

Managing director Graeme Dunn said securing repeat work at both the data centre facility and across Sydney Metro infrastructure demonstrates the quality of past delivery.

"We are drawing on multiple disciplines from across the group, which not all of our competitors are able to match," he said.

"This benefits our clients as we are able to deepen our relationships with them and better co-ordinate delivery across disciplines."
