Somerset Minerals Hits Copper Mineralisation in 12 of 12 Holes at Coppermine’s Jura Target

Somerset Minerals (ASX: SMM) has achieved a 100% success rate in the latest drilling at the Jura target within its Coppermine project in Canada.

The company hit copper mineralisation in all 12 reverse circulation holes it completed at Jura over two successive drill campaigns during the past six months.

The latest results from Jura confirm a large, thick mineralised copper system that remains open in all directions, with approximately 250 metres of strike now defined and geophysics suggesting continuity to at least 600m below surface.

Dual-Track Exploration

As Somerset awaits the results from regional geochemical and geophysical surveys, it is also advancing its dual-tracked exploration campaign.

In addition to the Jura resource development drilling, the company is testing the broader landholding of 1,665 square kilometres for coincident geochemical and geophysical anomalies.

The hunt for down-dip and along-strike extensions was the major focus for the most recent Jura drilling, with highlight intersections of 61.0m at 0.85% copper from 67.1m including 9.1m at 2.88% copper from 83.8m, and 71.6m at 0.57% copper from 89.9m including 10.7m at 2.47% copper from 131.1m.

Follow up drill targets will potentially include a recently identified large low-resistivity zone extending from known high-grade mineralisation to over 600m below surface and high-chargeability and lookalike resistivity zones.

Multiple Discovery Potential

Managing director Chris Hansen said that, as Jura represents just 5% or so of the Coppermine project, there is obvious potential for it to host multiple discoveries.

"In parallel with resource drilling, we’ve completed the first truly comprehensive regional geochemical and geophysical datasets ever collected across this land package—more than 11,000 line-km of high-resolution magnetics and over 1,500 soil samples,” he said.

“This work is laying the foundation for what we firmly believe is a genuine belt-scale copper camp capable of delivering not just one, but several significant copper discoveries.”

“We are entering the new year with strong momentum, a growing high-grade discovery, a district-scale opportunity in front of us, and a clear strategy to convert this into significant value for our shareholders.”
