Resolution Minerals (ASX: RML) has engaged the services of seasoned geologist and tungsten expert David Hembree to help advance exploration and development activities at the historical Golden Gate mine, which sits within the company’s larger Horse Heaven gold-antimony-tungsten-silver project in the US.
Mr Hembree, who has 45 years’ experience in western US geology, will be responsible for fast-tracking Golden Gate on the back of his past experience at the mine, which intermittently produced ore between 1952 and 1980.
He has also worked at several operating US mines including Mount Hamilton, French Gulch, and Mineral Ridge, and his knowledge of past tungsten exploration and production at Horse Heaven should prove invaluable in identifying emerging targets and additional resources at the site.
Resolution believes there is potential to expand tungsten mineralisation around Golden Gate, along strike to the north and south parallel to the north-south oriented Golden Gate Fault and at other Horse Heaven targets.
Strong Local Knowledge
Resolution US chief executive officer Craig Lindsay welcomed Mr Hembree to the project.
“We are fortunate to have connected with David as he has a strong knowledge of historical tungsten exploration and production at Horse Heaven and will be invaluable as we begin targeting additional tungsten resources,” he said.
“Based on our work to date, we are confident additional ore remains at the Golden Gate mine and David’s understanding of the historic workings and mineralisation will provide excellent insight into where we should be focusing our future tungsten-oriented drilling activities.”
Tungsten prices are currently at record highs and forecast to rise further this year on the back of increased global conflict, along with rising demand from clean energy and high-tech applications such as AI chips and lithium-ion batteries.
Johnson Creek Mill Acquisition
Mr Hembree’s appointment follows Resolution’s recent announcement that it will acquire the ++Johnson Creek tungsten-antimony mill++ adjacent to Horse Heaven, which comprises a historical processing facility and 1,905 tonnes of stockpiled tungsten ore from Golden Gate.
The acquisition will see Resolution become one of the few US antimony-tungsten-gold companies with in-house processing capability, advancing its efforts to play a major near-term role in meeting US demand for domestic critical metals production.
Horse Heaven covers 59 square kilometres of land in the Boise National Forest, near to the fully-permitted $5 billion Stibnite gold project operated by Perpetua Resources.
