Prospect Resources (ASX: PSC) has defined a new high-grade copper zone at the Nyungu Central deposit within its 85%-owned Mumbezhi copper project in north-west Zambia.

The company reported a standout intercept of 34 metres at 0.88% copper from 128m, extending high-grade mineralisation south of the existing resource.

The same hole also returned 2.7m at 0.52% copper from 114.3m, confirming near-surface mineralisation up plunge toward the southern margin of the deposit, with additional Phase 2 results including 8.46m at 0.34% copper, 6m at 0.42% copper, and 2.06m at 0.35% copper.

Prospect said the new intercepts support a larger-scale copper system at Nyungu Central, which currently hosts a mineral resource of 86.7 million tonnes at 0.5% copper.

Four Assays Still Pending

Assays are pending for four remaining holes drilled at Nyungu Central during the Phase 2 campaign, which totalled almost 14,770m across 59 holes.

Prospect has now submitted more than 1,200 pulp samples from Nyungu Central for gold assay, with results expected through January 2026 to assist in resource-model updates.

At the Kabikupa deposit, Prospect is working to expand the existing 20.5Mt at 0.5% copper inferred mineral resource.

Final Phase 2 metallurgical assays at Kabikupa returned 18.6m at 0.48% copper from 98m including 13.6m at 0.56% copper, along with 5m at 0.35% copper and 3m at 0.33% copper from shallower transitional zones.

Prospect said ongoing geochemical, geophysical and shallow aircore programs continue to define new target areas across the 356 sq km Mumbezhi tenure.

Growth and Scale Potential

Managing director Sam Hosack said the latest results reinforce Mumbezhi’s growth trajectory and highlight the scale potential of Nyungu Central.

“Whilst we have completed our drilling activities for 2025, we have a substantial pipeline of residual drill hole assays, pulp sample results, and soil sample data to be returned over the next two months,” he said.

“These pending results are set to inform both our mineral resource estimate update in Q1 2026 as well as overall planning for our drilling and exploration activities next year.”
