Lumos Diagnostics (ASX: LDX) has secured a network-wide rollout of FebriDx across more than 30 urgent care sites owned by a major US health system.
The regional group is one of Lumos’ priority top 100 urgent care targets, representing an internally estimated 200,000 acute respiratory infection (ARI) presentations each year.
Three further tier 1 urgent care groups with more than 230 sites are progressing through clinical and economic validation across multiple locations.
Together, the four new accounts represent more than 430 potential sites and at least 2.6 million internally estimated ARI presentations annually as Lumos concentrates resources on large networks capable of scaled adoption.
Priority Account Strategy
Lumos is targeting the 100 largest US urgent care groups—which it estimates account for about 40% of the country’s urgent care sites—using patient volume, payer mix, strategic fit, and network scale to identify opportunities.
The newly committed regional operator moved directly into network rollout and forms part of a health system spanning more than 200 urgent care centres, hospitals, ambulatory clinics, and medical group practices across a major metropolitan region.
FebriDx is expected to support ARI triage protocols, antibiotic stewardship initiatives, and standardised workflows across the urgent care network, with potential to expand into related ambulatory settings.
“The expedited pace at which this regional urgent care group moved from discussions through to adoption was an encouraging sign of growing clinical confidence in the FebriDx test,” chief executive officer Doug Ward said.
Validation Building Scale
The other three accounts include a top 10, top 25 and top 30 urgent care organisation, placing each among the largest groups in Lumos’ target market.
Their current validation work is assessing clinical performance, reimbursement, workflow integration, and health economics across multiple sites before any broader deployment decision.
Lumos expects successful validation within large multi-site groups to provide a faster route to expansion because adoption can extend through an existing account rather than requiring individual site-by-site sales.
The strategy follows the pathway established with WellStreet Urgent Care, where an initial pilot expanded to 44 sites and created a route towards deployment across a network of more than 165 locations.
Four-Stage Framework
Lumos has introduced a four-stage framework covering qualified opportunities, clinical and economic validation, network rollout and standardised adoption to show how priority accounts are progressing.
The final stage is reached when FebriDx becomes embedded in standing orders, triage protocols, or routine clinical pathways, supporting repeat ordering and scaled utilisation.
The company continues discussions with additional high-volume top 100 accounts while refining market updates around account maturity, site growth, and geographic expansion.
All US FebriDx sales are made under Lumos’ exclusive distribution agreement with Phase Scientific, with revenue recognised when product is shipped to the distributor.
