Linq Minerals (ASX: LNQ) has intersected porphyry-related quartz-sulphide stockwork veining and extended the thickness of shallow gold-copper mineralisation in Phase One drilling at the Gilmore project in New South Wales.
The company completed four reverse circulation holes at the southern zone — which incorporates the Gidginbung and Dam epithermal and porphyry systems — with the first hole at Dam returning an intercept of 144 metres at 1 gram per tonne gold equivalent (AuEq) from 84m.
The step-out hole was located 110m along strike south of a previous hole returned 167m at 1.87g/t AuEq, and the results are believed to have significantly extended the thickness of shallow porphyry gold-copper at Dam, demonstrating continuous high-grade (more than 100 gram/metres AuEq) mineralisation over a 300m strike.
Porphyry-related results
All four holes intersected porphyry-related quartz-sulphide stockwork veining before passing through the Dam Footwall Fault, forming the western boundary to gold and copper mineralisation.
Best assays were 21m at 2.72g/t AuEq from 149m including 3m at 9.46g/t AuEq; 31m at 2.46g/t AuEq from 176m including 5m at 12.69g/t AuEq; 21m at 3.03g/t AuEq from 145m; 14.3m at 1.29g/t AuEq from 188m; 20m at 2.44g/t AuEq within a broader intercept of 52m at 1.14g/t AuEq from 102m; and 11m at 2.26g/t AuEq within a broader 19m at 1.47g/t AuEq from 159m.
Other highlights were 49m at 0.79g/t AuEq from 128m; 40m at 0.50g/t AuEq from 143m; and 24m at 1.18g/t AuEq and 13m at 1.19g/t AuEq, within a broader intercept of 82m at 0.86g/t AuEq from 102m.
Three of the holes were extended with diamond core tails to test the target and provide samples for metallurgical lab work.
Significant mineralised district
Linq executive chair Clive Donner said the drilling results confirmed the southern zone represents a significant mineralised district.
“We are very excited by the gold and copper mineralisation at the Dam site, which is only 600 metres west of our brownfield's gold open pit at Gidginbung,” he said.
“Overall, we believe the southern zone of Gilmore is delivering fantastic high-grade results with good drill widths, and we look forward to follow-up exploration next month.”
