Janus Electric Holdings (ASX: JNS) has unveiled its Horizon Two growth strategy, prioritising expansion across five US regions, a proposed Western Australian mining venture, and a shared battery-swapping network.

The heavy-truck electrification specialist is shifting from building its conversion technology and securing orders to delivering vehicles and developing a wider operating footprint.

Its strategy covers financial years 2027 and 2028, with an ambition to have more than 650 converted trucks on the road by the end of that period.

Janus has reaffirmed revenue guidance of $70–100 million for financial year 2027, conditional on North American deliveries, incentive approvals and battery supply proceeding as planned.

Five US Regions in Focus

North America is the centrepiece of the revised plan after Janus grew its contracted conversion book from zero in April to 124 trucks across US and Canadian customers.

The company plans a presence across the western states, Texas and the south-central region, the northeast and mid-Atlantic, the southeast and the Midwest, and Great Lakes.

Its regional model combines incentive-supported fleet trials, local conversion partners, and shared swap facilities, with permanent conversion hubs planned once 20 trucks are committed.

California is already active, Texas expansion is progressing through a non-binding arrangement with ConGlobal, and the other regions will be developed progressively through 2027.

The North American book comprises 99 US trucks and 25 Canadian conversions, while a further 240-plus potential conversions remain outside the contracted order book.

WA Mining Opportunity

A proposed 50:50 joint venture with RANGER would extend Janus technology into Western Australian road trains, mine haulage, grain transport, and hybrid conversions.

Janus and an engineering services partner are targeting definitive JV agreements by December, with a Perth workshop and scope for customer-investors in the proposed structure.

The intended sequence begins with paid engineering studies in early 2027, followed by customer-funded trials and potential fleet conversions from financial year 2028.

Janus would licence its technology into RANGER and supply equipment, with details and terms of the venture in the process of being finalised.

Production and Energy Network

To service growing demand, the Central Coast manufacturing operation is building towards capacity of 50 conversion kits a month during 2027, following slower-than-expected supply-chain ramp-up.

Partner workshops in California and Texas would undertake installations, with 18 US trucks scheduled for delivery by December and the first five Canadian conversions targeted for January.

The company also intends to extend its Charge & Change model through shared battery-swap sites, charging services and subscriptions rather than owning every battery or station.

Under that capital-light structure, leasing and infrastructure partners fund long-life assets while Janus earns hardware, energy, software, and operating revenue.

In Australia, a proposed Newcastle-to-Melbourne freight corridor depends partly on an Australian Renewable Energy Agency funding application, with Moorebank intended as a commercial demonstration site.

Funding and Delivery Milestones

The expansion will draw on order-backed debt, asset finance, grants, strategic partners, and customer payments, with $11m of Commonwealth Bank trade and asset finance facilities already arranged.

Janus has also raised $12.2m in equity placements during 2026 and completed a $2m investment from battery supplier Electrovaya.

Its North American orders carry an indicative gross value of about $64.6m excluding Canada, although some contracts depend on incentives, financing and delivery requirements.

The business aims to deliver the current North American order book by early in the fourth quarter of financial year 2027, subject to battery commissioning and other dependencies.

The 650-plus truck ambition and regional expansion milestones are strategic objectives rather than forecasts, with their achievement dependent on funding and customer uptake.
