Invictus Energy (ASX: IVZ) has awarded key wellpad and support services contracts as it prepares to drill the Musuma-1 exploration well at its Cabora Bassa project in Zimbabwe.

The work program includes access road upgrades, water supply infrastructure, and the wellpad preparation required to support Rig 202 and the upcoming drilling campaign.

Contractor Exalo Drilling is mobilising a team to Zimbabwe this week to begin in-country setup and critical maintenance activities on Rig 202.

Site works are being planned so the wellpad and associated infrastructure will be ready to receive Rig 202 in line with the planned drilling schedule.

Invictus has also completed evaluation of long-lead equipment suppliers for the well and is preparing to award remaining supply contracts, with all major long-lead procurement now positioned to support drilling readiness.

High-Impact Basin Target

Musuma-1 is targeting an estimated gross mean unrisked prospective resource of 1.2 trillion cubic feet of gas and 73 million barrels of condensate.

The well represents one of the most significant undrilled conventional exploration opportunities in the Cabora Bassa Basin.

Musuma-1 will be the first high-impact exploration well drilled outside the Mukuyu gas-condensate discovery area and will test a new play type in the basin.

Invictus considers the well one of the strongest technical cases outside Mukuyu, with potential to unlock a substantial new resource base in the eastern portion of its acreage.

Key Preparations in Place

Managing director Scott Macmillan said the award of wellpad construction, civils, road upgrade, water supply, long-lead equipment, and logistics contracts represented an important step in preparations for Musuma-1.

“These allow us to move into the field execution phase and ensure the necessary infrastructure, equipment, and mobilisation planning are in place ahead of drilling,” Mr Macmillan said.

“Securing the remaining long-lead items, including wellheads and tubulars, is a key procurement milestone and supports our drilling readiness for the planned H2 2026 campaign.”

“The evaluation of well services provision is well advanced, and we are targeting award of these remaining scopes in coming weeks.”

Invictus said it remains on track to spud Musuma-1 in H2 2026.
