International Graphite (ASX: IG6) reported solid progress across its downstream graphite processing strategy during the December 2025 quarter, with key approvals secured for its Collie Micronising Facility and multiple European initiatives advancing.
The company secured development approval and completed settlement on three adjoining lots totalling approximately 6,000 square metres in the Collie Light Industrial Area, enabling construction planning for its commercial micronising facility.
The land sits directly opposite the company’s existing research and development and qualification facility, which continues to supply sample products to domestic and international customers for testing and validation.
Deposits have been paid on the first line of micronising equipment, power supply timing has been confirmed by Western Power, and production remains targeted to commence in 2027.
European Expandable Graphite Project
International Graphite advanced its planned European expandable graphite project through a technology collaboration agreement that secures access to proven processing intellectual property and a commercial licence.
A techno-economic evaluation confirmed strong forecast economics for a reference design producing around 4,200 tonnes per year of expandable graphite from a low-capital, high-margin operation.
Laboratory test work commenced on multiple graphite concentrate feedstocks to inform final process design, feedstock selection and customer product specifications ahead of feasibility studies.
Purification And Battery Anode Pathways
The company signed a non-binding Letter of Intent with Italian chemical producer ALKEEMIA SpA to access toll-treatment graphite purification services in Europe, enabling production of high-quality graphite products with a purity above 99%.
ALKEEMIA commenced purification test work on concentrates supplied by International Graphite including material from the Springdale project.
Initial operations are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2026.
In parallel, pilot-scale carbon coating trials for battery anode material commenced with CarboPhite, with electrochemical testing being undertaken at the University of Melbourne to assess suitability for lithium-ion battery applications.
Springdale Drill Planning Continues
Planning continued for further resource, exploration and hydrological drilling at the Springdale Graphite Project in Western Australia, which is intended to provide long-term feedstock for the company’s processing facilities.
International Graphite secured up to $3 million in working capital funding through an investment agreement with Pioneer Resource Partners, with $800,000 drawn during the quarter.
The company held $1.4m cash at the end of the period, supplemented by this funding and government grants supporting near-term development.
Graphite industry specialist Aidan Nania joined the board as an executive director after the rule date, adding European market expertise as the company progresses toward construction and commercialisation milestones.
