- 01Phase 1 complete; HeraCARE validated at Lee.
- 0211 virtual vs 15 in-person visits.
- 03NPS: digital journey 60; RPM 75; 92% adoption.
- 0432 extra slots; ~74 miles saved.
HeraMED (ASX: HMD) has completed Phase 1 of a six-month pilot with Lee Health in the United States, validating its HeraCARE platform within a hybrid obstetrics (OB) care model.
The pilot assessed whether virtual visits, remote patient monitoring (RPM), fetal doppler use, and blood pressure monitoring could reduce reliance on in-person appointments while maintaining care quality.
A total of 44 patients completed virtual prenatal visits, with 92% adopting the digital pathway and all participants indicating they would recommend the program.
HeraMED and Lee Health are now progressing final internal approval for Phase 2, with a decision expected in the coming weeks.
Patient Response Supports Model
The Phase 1 results indicated that prenatal care could be delivered with fewer in-person visits while preserving patient engagement, access and clinical connection.
The Digital Pregnancy Journey program achieved a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 60, while the RPM device component recorded an NPS of 75 and more than 80% of participating patients agreed that the app and RPM model improved their access to information.
The pathway was designed around 11 virtual prenatal visits compared with approximately 15 in-person appointments under a traditional care model, with HeraMED believing that the model could maintain the existing level of care at the lower number.
The pilot generated a modelled 32 additional prenatal appointment slots and reduced travel by approximately 74 miles per patient, outcomes that support the potential for Lee Health to improve clinic access and operational efficiency while reducing practical barriers faced by patients.
“By reducing unnecessary office visits while maintaining patient connection, this model has the potential to improve the pregnancy care experience and create meaningful additional capacity,” Lee Health’s Dr Rachel Wykes said.
Phase 2 Decision Nears
Lee Health is the largest healthcare network in southwest Florida, operating four acute care hospitals and two specialty hospitals with more than 1,100 physicians.
The non-profit system delivers approximately 8,000 babies annually and has been evaluating digital-first models as part of a broader healthcare transformation program.
HeraMED considers the pilot an important validation of HeraCARE’s ability to support connected maternity care at scale across clinical, operational, and economic measures.
“This is a significant milestone for HeraMED to partner with a nationally recognised major US healthcare provider,” chief executive officer Anoushka Gungadin said.
“It has been great to see the enthusiasm in this process with a mutual goal of validating HeraCARE's capability to enhance patient engagement and connected digital maternity as a new model of care.”
“Through this deployment, HeraMED included considerations across clinical outcomes, health economics, and operational-workflow efficiencies, setting the stage for future scalability and expanded deployment.’’
