Greenvale Energy (ASX: GRV) has identified six large-scale uranium targets during an independent review of areas EL34157 and EL33670 at the Thunderball uranium project in the Northern Territory.
The review by Arrow Geoscience of publicly available state-wide, region-wide and company-procured geophysical data — including airborne magnetics-radiometrics (AMR) surveys acquired by Greenvale in 2024 and 2025 — aimed to define additional structures that might influence mineralisation processes within the project area.
The merged datasets revealed a large-scale northwest-southeast trending fault structure with associated magnetic, gravity, and radiometric uranium anomalies within the central portion of EL33670, running parallel to the geological contact between the polymetallic Pine Creek Orogen and overlying sedimentary Daly and Birrindudu basins.
Airborne radiometric anomalies were also identified on the north-eastern side (hanging wall) of the interpreted structure, showing good correlation with identified magnetic anomalies in this part of the Thunderball area.
Greenvale believes the structure may represent a potential graben (a block of crust that has been dropped by faulting during basin formation), potentially creating space for uranium-rich and polymetallic fluids to enter the overlying sediments from the bedrock below the basins.
Project-Level Targets
Field teams have correlated ground-based RS-125 gamma-ray spectrometry, handheld portable x-ray fluorescence, and airborne radiometric survey data to confirm six new project-level targets for drill testing, with samples collected and sent for independent chemical analysis.
All targets showed consistent high anomalism up to 17 parts per million equivalent uranium (eU) relative to a natural background of approximately 4ppm eU and coincided with mapped limestones and minor granite outcrops, although exposure at surface was infrequent.
Early assays confirmed uranium anomalism in the sediments of the Daly Basin with peak results up to 51ppm observed from the Wildcard South prospect, while results from the Powers prospect were considered anomalous with background values of only 3ppm.
Reports confirmed the low-level uranium assays showed good correlation with geophysical results at surface, warranting further investigation of the prospect area.
Expanded Exploration Pipeline
Greenvale managing director Alex Cheeseman was pleased to see an expansion of the company’s exploration target pipeline across the Thunderball land package.
“Following outstanding results from recent field work programs at our northern EL34157 tenement, this latest geophysical review and field-based follow-up has generated a series of exciting new targets at EL33670 to the south,” he said.
“This early-stage grass-roots target development work is incredibly important as we systematically test areas of interest and build a pipeline of opportunities ready for drill testing.
“On-ground exploration will continue across the remaining anomalies, with the aim of testing as many of these as possible before the build up to the wet season starts.”
