Gold Hydrogen (ASX: GHY) has flowed helium to surface from Ramsay 2 at air-corrected concentrations of up to 20%, confirming productive helium-bearing intervals at a second well within its Ramsay project in South Australia.
The 180m-gross Kulpara Dolomite result, recorded about 500 metres from Ramsay 1 and broadly consistent with its 19% stabilised concentration, provides the first dynamic evidence that the reservoir’s productive characteristics extend beyond the original well location.
Testing also measured air-corrected helium concentrations of up to 19% from a 200m-gross interval in the deeper Hiltaba Basement, adding evidence for a further helium-bearing zone within the project.
The Ramsay 2 program further supports Gold Hydrogen’s pathway towards maiden Contingent Resources and a potential Ramsay helium pilot project, although the field measurements remain preliminary and subject to independent laboratory confirmation.
Continuity Strengthens Appraisal
Ramsay 2 was completed with a cased-and-perforated design that allowed zonal isolation across the Kulpara Dolomite, Winulta Sandstone, and Hiltaba Basement rather than the commingled flow configuration used at Ramsay 1.
Gross fluid rates reached up to 2,300 barrels per day, with the electrical submersible pump (ESP) constraining the test rather than interpreted reservoir deliverability.
ESP efficiency improved by almost three times during stabilised flow testing compared with Ramsay 1, reflecting the improved completion configuration and removal of the pump intake screen.
Interpreted reservoir parameters, fluid characteristics and deliverability at Ramsay 2 were consistent with Ramsay 1, supporting Gold Hydrogen’s interpretation of a laterally continuous and highly productive Kulpara Dolomite reservoir across the tested area.
Contingent Resource Pathway
Gold Hydrogen holds an independent helium Prospective Resource assessment for the Ramsay project with a mean estimate of 96 billion cubic feet, covering only a fraction of the total area of PEL 687.
Ramsay 2 adds second-well producibility, comparable helium concentrations, and zone-specific reservoir data to the appraisal dataset built from Ramsay 1, increasing the information available for resource modelling and development planning.
“For the first time, we now have dynamic evidence from two wells that support our interpretation of a thick, extensive and laterally continuous 180-metre Helium-bearing Kulpara reservoir,” managing director Neil McDonald said.
“With further testing still underway, and the testing of Ramsay 3 yet to come, we believe Gold Hydrogen is building a highly valuable technical dataset.”
Gold Hydrogen expects to assess the booking of maiden Contingent Resources after completing and interpreting its full 2026 flow testing program, including results still to come from Ramsay 3, together with relevant independent technical assessment.
Pilot Development Taking Shape
An independent assessment concluded that a commercial helium development at Ramsay may potentially be viable with as few as two wells, subject to further technical, commercial and economic evaluation.
The planned Ramsay 3 program is expected to progressively increase pumping rates towards about 20,000 barrels per day using an enhanced completion design, providing further data on potential development-scale performance.
Subject to completion of the current flow testing campaign and further resource definition, Gold Hydrogen intends to progress an accelerated front-end engineering design program for a helium-focused development.
Planning is continuing for the potential pilot project, including discussions with third-party technology and distribution partners and assessment of low-cost pilot options such as a modular commercial helium plant.
