Gold Hydrogen (ASX: GHY) has revealed accelerated commercialisation potential for helium at its Ramsay Project with as few as two wells, underpinned by strong purity results and a positive independent assessment from Worley.
The modelling suggests a well flow sustainment of approximately 29 Mscf/day per well is viable for commercial scenarios.
Worley considered three indicative helium production scenarios for the Ramsay Project.
Gold Hydrogen plans to refine these models using actual flow-test outcomes from the upcoming campaign.
Exceptional Helium Purity and Resources
Drilling and well-testing results from the Ramsay Project have shown exceptional air-corrected helium purity, reaching up to 36.9%.
Furthermore, international laboratories, including Oxford University, have detected helium-3 concentrations of up to 901 ppt.
Previous independent prospective resource estimates for helium across the Ramsay Project area range from a low of 7 Bcf to a high of 243 Bcf.
Following the closure of the Darwin LNG helium plant in late 2023, which previously provided domestic production, Australia currently imports 100% of its helium supply.
Globally, there is significant supply tightness, with a disruption at Qatar’s Ras Laffan facility estimated to have removed between 30-35% of global helium supply for a period of 12 to 18 months, creating a favourable market backdrop for domestic helium production in Australia.
Next Steps: Flow Testing and FEED
A critical near-term flow-testing campaign is expected to commence at the Ramsay Project in June 2026.
Subject to the outcomes of this flow-testing and potential contingent resource definition, Gold Hydrogen intends to progress an accelerated Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) for a helium-focused development platform.
The company is also considering a near-term modular, skid-mounted helium purification pilot plant with Quantum Technology.
Recent drilling campaigns have laid a solid technical foundation, confirming high-purity natural hydrogen at Ramsay 3, with air-corrected purity reaching up to 97%.
Further appraisal at Ramsay 4 indicated continuity of both natural hydrogen and helium systems across the Ramsay Project area, with wireline and mud-gas interpretations from these wells supporting the geological model and favourable reservoir characteristics.
Outlook on Helium Commercialisation
Gold Hydrogen's latest update positions its Ramsay Project for potentially accelerated helium commercialisation, driven by a positive independent assessment and strong purity results.
The upcoming June 2026 flow-testing campaign is the critical next catalyst, the results of which will inform progression to FEED and potential development pathways amid a supportive global helium market.
