Energy Technologies (ASX: EGY) subsidiary Cogenic has signed a one-year commercial framework agreement with Israel’s MEEP Advanced Enterprise Communication (trading as Synch) for up to US$10 million in purchase orders for Cogenic’s next-generation wearable technology.

The agreement includes a US$250,000 proof-of-concept (PoC) program for 10 field-operational smart glasses that aim to consolidate capabilities traditionally delivered through separate devices into a single lightweight wearable platform.

Each unit is expected to include heads-up visual information, two-way communications, body-worn video functionality, software, connectivity and integration with command-and-control systems, subject to the agreed product requirements.

Energy Technologies sees the agreement as an important commercial milestone for Cogenic that creates a pathway for wearable technology to undergo field validation and progress towards broader commercial deployment.

Manufacturing Model

Cogenic’s smart glasses incorporate proprietary laser beam scanning (LBS) and micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) technologies, including custom-manufactured MEMS components, within a lightweight platform designed for field use.

The company’s manufacturing model enables a rapid transition from PoC to commercial-scale production, with the majority of manufacturing intended to be carried out externally, and detailed forecasting, production capacity commitments, and lead times to be outlined in a master agreement.

During the PoC period, Cogenic will retain ownership of its existing and core intellectual property, while project-specific integration work, interfaces, and customisations developed by Synch or the undisclosed end customer will be owned by Synch.

Synch will make an upfront payment of US$50,000, with the remaining US$200,000 payable within 30 days after PoC acceptance and both payments counting towards the US$10m framework cap.

Following the PoC program, the parties intend to explore further opportunities across homeland security, law enforcement, medical first response, military, defence, and other environments where hands-free access to real-time communications, visual information, and data may provide operational benefits.

Deep-Tech Partnership

Cogenic partnered with US-based deep-tech company Amalgamated Vision (AV) earlier this year to pursue a military grade wearable heads-up display solution utilising its LBS technology.

The five-year deal secures the relationship of developing a lightweight, low-power and high-performance optical platform in conjunction with AV’s expertise in developing micro-optic components for non-obstructive head mounted displays used by NASA and the AFWERX innovation arm of the US Department of the Air Force.

The global market size for military heads-up display units was estimated to be US$1.3 billion in 2025 and expected to reach US$2.7b by 2034 at a compound annual growth rate of 8.48%.

The total addressable market through this period is expected to be US$18.1b.
