Emyria Establishes First Victorian Empax Clinic for Psychedelic-Assisted Treatments

Perth-based mental health care specialist Emyria (ASX: EMD) has secured its first Empax clinic in Victoria for the psychedelic-assisted treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and treatment-resistant depression.

The new clinic will be established within Avive Health’s flagship Mornington Peninsula mental health hospital and recruitment, with training of therapists and psychiatrists expected to commence immediately.

Under the terms of the initial three-year arrangement, Emyria will provide a full clinical team and specialist mental health care expertise while Avive will provide the infrastructure, operating licence, and in-patient support.

Two authorised prescriber applications are already in progress, and Emyria expects patient treatment to commence in the first half of 2026, following regulatory approvals and fit-out completion.

End-To-End Care Model

Psychedelic-assisted therapy combines the controlled use of psychedelic compounds with psychological therapy, enabling patients to access and work through deeply-rooted emotions or trauma.

Emyria’s Empax Centres deliver an end-to-end care model encompassing patient screening, supervised psychedelic therapy, and structured post-treatment monitoring.

Research shows two in five young Australians now report mental health challenges, with a total economic impact estimated at $220 billion per year.

The Victorian deal follows the opening of Empax centres at Perth Clinic and Avive Brisbane, and underpins the company’s vision of becoming Australia’s leading provider of evidence-backed, insurer-funded mental health care.

In June, Emyria secured a ++landmark, multi-year agreement++ with health insurer Medibank Private (ASX: MPL) to fund access to the Empax program at Perth Clinic with no out-of-pocket costs for eligible and screened customers.

Rapid Expansion Strategy

Emyria executive chair Greg Hutchinson said the company aimed for all newly commissioned clinics to progress through initial ramp-up and approach steady-state operations within 12 months, supporting its rapid and considered national expansion strategy.

“With insurer-funded clinics operating in WA and Queensland, and a Victorian clinic now secured, we are demonstrating that our Empax model can be deployed consistently across states,” he said.

“Each new clinic strengthens the network and enhances platform economics, positioning us to scale nationally with confidence through 2026 and beyond.”

“[Our] expansion will continue to be paced, hospital-led, and aligned with existing reimbursement frameworks.”
