BrainChip Holdings (ASX: BRN) has entered a non-exclusive, worldwide IP licence agreement with ASICLAND to integrate its Akida neuromorphic AI IP into ASICLAND's System-on-Chip designs.
This marks another step in the company's strategy to expand its partner ecosystem and commercialise its technology.
Approval from BrainChip will be required for conversion to customer-specific production licences for commercial manufacture.
The payment structure for this agreement includes upfront evaluation and production licence fees per customer, in addition to ongoing volume-based royalties on net sales.
Expansion of Partner Ecosystem
This strategic agreement aims to significantly expand BrainChip's global semiconductor partner ecosystem and go-to-market reach.
By enabling ASICLAND to integrate Akida IP, BrainChip is facilitating its technology's presence in diverse SoC designs for various end customers.
The deal also streamlines the process for obtaining evaluation licences for MPW (multi-project wafer) prototyping.
These evaluation licences can then be converted to full production licences, supporting the eventual commercial manufacture of chips incorporating Akida IP.
BrainChip has stated it cannot quantify the immediate financial impact of the ASICLAND agreement, but does anticipate that revenue generated from this partnership will be material over time.
The payment structure, which includes upfront fees and ongoing royalties, is designed to provide BrainChip with recurring income while maintaining control over its intellectual property.
Recent Licensing and Production Milestones
This agreement with ASICLAND follows BrainChip's global, non-exclusive Akida 2 IP licensing agreement with EDGEAI, which was announced on March 29, 2026.
That deal also included milestone-based payments and ongoing royalties tied to product sales.
Further demonstrating its commercialisation progress, BrainChip's Annual Report 2025 highlighted significant advancements for its AKD1500 chip.
The AKD1500 moved from reference design to tape-out and volume production, with production silicon anticipated in Q3 2026.
Additionally, the company initiated the development of its next-generation AKD2500 custom silicon project post year-end.
Outlook on Commercialization and Revenue
The ASICLAND IP license agreement represents a strategic move by BrainChip to broaden the adoption of its Akida technology through integration into third-party SoC designs.
While the immediate financial impact is unquantified, the company anticipates future revenue growth from licensing fees and royalties, contributing to its ongoing commercialisation efforts.
