Blue Star Helium Transitions to 24/7 Operations at Galactica after Stage 1 Completion

Key points

  • Galactica project Stage 1 complete, with 6 wells online and 24/7 operations starting.

  • Trading halted pending announcement on a capital raising.

  • Commercial discussions continue amidst a tight global helium market.

Blue Star Helium (ASX: BNL) has announced the completion of Stage 1 of its Galactica project development, bringing six wells online and transitioning its Pinon Canyon facility to 24/7 operations.

The Pinon Canyon facility is transitioning from intermittent daylight production and maintenance to continuous operations, following automation and system upgrades.

Blue Star Helium has secured initial helium sales on a spot-price basis for the first tube trailer, with a second trailer expected to arrive shortly.

Looking ahead, CO2 liquefaction remains on track for Q2 2026, with production tie-in from the high-CO2 Jackson 27 well scheduled to align with the commencement of CO2 sales.

At the same time, Blue Star requested an immediate trading halt on the ASX pending an announcement regarding a capital raising initiative.

Commercial Progress Amid Tight Market

Long-term offtake negotiations are progressing with multiple parties for both helium and CO2 supply contracts.

The company's strategy aims for a mix of spot and longer-term reference pricing.

The global helium market is described as structurally tight due to supply chain disruptions, rationing, and surcharges.

This situation has led to increased demand for reliable US-sourced helium, which may support favourable pricing and contract terms for producers.

Helium One JV

Blue Star Helium is undertaking the Galactica project as a 50% joint venture with Helium One Global Ltd.

Previous updates indicated that integrated operations at the Pinon Canyon Plant commenced in early March 2026, with the Helium Recovery Unit (HRU) beginning to fill onsite tube trailers for spot market sale.

Earlier reports also noted that CO2 liquefaction was targeted for the second half of H1 2026, which is now more precisely aligned with Q2 2026.

Blue Star Helium has achieved a significant operational milestone with the completion of Stage 1 of its Galactica project, moving to continuous production and securing initial sales.

However, this operational progress is immediately followed by a trading halt for a capital raising, indicating a need for future funding to support ongoing development and operations.
