Anteotech Hits Key Performance Benchmarks in Testing of Ultranode X High-Silicon Battery

Advanced battery technology company AnteoTech (ASX: ADO) has reported that testing of its proprietary Ultranode X high-silicon anode has achieved more than 1,000 charge-discharge cycles at 80% capacity retention.

The breakthrough follows the company’s decision to push the performance boundaries of the technology to better align its specifications with certain high-end applications such as drone usage and mobile electronics.

The result meets a key cycle-life benchmark often requested by electric vehicle (EV) and electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) manufacturers, and showcases AnteoTech’s ability to deliver higher energy, lighter, smaller, longer-lasting batteries.

Cost-Effective Construction

Ultranode X uses cost-effective micron-sized pure silicon material – rather than more complex and expensive silicon-carbon composite powder – to power high-energy and long-cycle life products.

The commercially available pure silicon is able to deliver reduced costs and lower carbon dioxide emissions compared to conventional materials.

It can be sourced at scale from multiple global locations at a consistent quality and quantity basis, eliminating supply chain constraints.

This independence is particularly relevant following China’s recent export restrictions on high-energy density batteries and battery materials, with many governments and manufacturers seeking to secure access to materials and technologies that can be sourced and scaled without disruption.

Validates Ultranode Technology

Anteotech managing director Merrill Gray said the test results represented a major milestone validating the Ultranode X technology—one that should accelerate potential customer and partnership discussions, as well as open new market opportunities

“These results certainly position us well as a cost-effective, high performance technology provider into applications such as EVs and eVTOLs,” Ms Gray said.

“Our team has pushed the boundaries of micro-silicon based anode technology and we are in a good position to provide customers with a scalable, globally-sourced and trade restriction-independent product to underpin their next-generation lithium-ion batteries.”

In addition to Ultranode X, AnteoTech also offers Ultranode 95 and Ultranode 70, the latter of which is currently being trialled by Wyon AG for use in the miniature wearables space.
