Anson Resources (ASX: ASN) has completed environmental baseline field surveys across the Western and Central blocks of its Yellow Cat uranium-vanadium project in Utah ahead of a planned resource-definition drilling program.

The surveys covered proposed drill pads, sumps, access tracks, and surrounding buffer zones, with no environmental roadblocks identified across the assessed areas.

The work is intended to support permitting for Phase 2 drilling aimed at validating historical uranium and vanadium results and upgrading the existing historical resource to compliance with the 2012 Australasian JORC Code.

Anson plans to use the new drilling and historical assay validation to support calculation of a maiden JORC-compliant mineral resource estimate at Yellow Cat.

Environmental Work Completed

Environmental baseline surveys were completed across designated drill areas in the Western and Central blocks to assess potential effects on native habitats and ecosystems.

The field program included botanical surveys for special status plant species, avian and raptor habitat assessments, and hydrological mapping to check whether proposed surface works would affect ephemeral drainage paths or sensitive riparian zones.

The final environmental material is expected to be incorporated into Anson’s Notice of Intent submission before drilling contractors are mobilised for the Phase 2 program.

Site work also located several historical drill hole marker poles and two sizes of drill core, helping Anson confirm the position of previous drilling and providing additional information to guide the new program.

Historical High-Grade Intercepts

Historical information from the Western and Central blocks records extensive high-grade uranium and vanadium intercepts from previous exploration and mine workings, although those results require modern validation before they can support a current economic study.

The planned program will focus heavily on twinning historical holes, with an initial phase targeting three to five holes in an area where previous mining has not been undertaken.

Anson intends to use known historical grade and thickness information to target confirmatory drilling before testing step-out extensions across the primary mineralised zones.

Samples from the drilling will be sent to a certified laboratory, with initial assay results expected to begin arriving early next year as the company builds the dataset required for the proposed MRE.

Buried Organic Material

Yellow Cat mineralisation occurs within sandstone units where uranium and vanadium deposition is associated with permeable paleo stream channels and zones containing buried organic material.

The mineralisation is described as horizontal, meaning downhole mineralised widths represent true widths, while grades can vary both vertically and horizontally because the deposits can be discontinuous.

The next drilling program is expected to test deeper targets than Anson’s initial work and extend below the water table, using the network of existing access roads and drill pads identified across the project area.

Once a JORC Code-compliant resource has been established, Anson plans to assess potential pathways for Yellow Cat including further investment, a strategic partnership, or another form of project monetisation.
