West Australian explorer Alto Metals (ASX: AME) says shallow, high-grade gold hits at its Musketeer prospect are continuing to boost the size of this target, which lies within the company’s Indomitable camp, which is part of the wider Sandstone gold project.
Mineralisation at Musketeer has now been defined over 900m of strike and remains open at length.
The deposit is also shallow with mineralisation being intercepted in one case just 24m down hole.
The latest results comprise 9m at 5 grams per tonne gold from 71m, including 1m at 15.3g/t gold from 74m; 19m at 1.5g/t gold from 73m, including 1m at 11.8g/t gold from 73m; and 7m at 3.4g/t gold from 51m, including 1m at 22.2g/t gold from 55m.
Size of Indomitable project keeps growing
Alto’s managing director Matthew Bowles said these latest results continue to highlight the scale and potential Alto sees at Indomitable, which sits within a much larger 20km gold corridor.
“Our drilling at Musketeer has, along with historical drilling, now defined shallow high-grade oxide gold mineralisation over 900m of strike that remains open,” he added.
Drilling will continue to focus on expanding the shallow gold resources at the Sandstone gold project, along with testing the high-grade gold targets recently identified at the historic Oroya and Hacks mines.
The company has previously signalled that the mineralised structures at Indomitable indicate the potential for a much larger system in a region where gold was first discovered at the end of the 19th century.
Alto’s ground contains numerous former open pits, prospects and gold occurrences, including Lord Nelson and Lord Henry, Havilah and Maninga Marley, Ladybird, Indomitable, Tiger Moth, Vanguard and Vanguard North, Oroya and Hacks, Bull Oak, Sandstone North, and Bulchina.
Big program for remainder of 2022
Alto is progressing with its 60,000m drill program at Sandstone for the remainder of 2022.
Extensional and resource drilling continues at Indomitable with a focus on the “gap” between the Indomitable and Indomitable North deposits.
Infill drilling is planned for Indomitable East which will follow up hits from the recent widely spaced program that defined mineralisation over a 1km strike length.
The company will also by the end of the year carry out first pass reverse circulation drilling at the Oroya historic mine site.
Currently, assays are pending from 10,000m of drilling.
