A geophysical survey conducted at Aldoro Resources’ (ASX: ARN) Narndee Igneous Complex nickel-copper-platinum group elements project has identified two new high-priority targets for inclusion in a drilling campaign which kicked off this month.

The moving loop transient electromagnetic (MLTEM) survey defined the VC3 and East1 targets which have since been modelled in 3D and prepared for drill testing.

VC3 has an areal size of approximately 300m by 600m and is interpreted to be striking in a northwest to southeast direction.

Aldoro said the top of the conductor lies at a depth of 400m below surface while the conductor body exhibits a shallow southeast dip of up to 20 degrees.

“The target appears to be located on a basal contact of an olivine bearing pyroxenite, with a footwall sequence of metamorphosed felsic volcanics and granitic rocks [and] interpreted to be a favourable location for the development of magmatic nickel-copper sulphides,” the company said.

East1 target

At East1, a discrete and relatively-strong bedrock conductor has been defined and modelling has resolved a body of 500m by 200m in areal size with a depth to the top of up to 275m below surface.

The body dips approximately 15 degrees to the west, striking north to south.

Aldoro said East1 is hosted by a sequence of felsic shists and metasediments, in a geological setting similar to the copper-rich gossanous outcrop at Quandong Well Zone B.

It may also represent a volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) style target.

Higher priority

VC3 and East1 have been ranked as a higher priority than the VC11 target to the north, which was one of the first targets to be drilled in the current campaign.

Perth contractor Orlando Drilling has been engaged to complete the works.

The company is using a KL900 rig capable of 1,500m depths of NQ hole size (47.6 millimetres core diameter) and considered “more than adequate” for Aldoro’s initial drilling proposals.
