1414 Degrees Enters Partnership to Develop AI Data Centre Infrastructure at Aurora Energy Precinct

1414 Degrees (ASX: 14D) has entered into a partnership with an Australian operator to develop up to one gigawatt of AI data centre infrastructure at the Aurora Energy Precinct in South Australia, anchored on Aurora’s renewable generation and battery energy storage (BESS) assets.

Under the proposed structure, 1414 will provide a development parcel, power, and connectivity inputs, while its partner will provide the capital, technical expertise, and capability required to deploy and operate the infrastructure.

The partnership agreement is non-binding except for specified provisions, including exclusivity over the development parcel and right of first refusal for generation capacity.

Commercial terms such as lease and access fees, power tariffs, participating interest in data centre earnings, connection arrangements, metering, retail, and embedded network arrangements remain subject to negotiation.

Modular Development

The proposed three-stage modular data centre development will be based around a 17-megawatt starter campus to draw on a 33-kilovolt power connection on the precinct’s western boundary to allow for early-stage development ahead of full renewable buildout.

A 200MW anchor campus is planned following the connection of a 275kV transmission to support grid-scale battery storage, renewable generation, and industrial-scale customers.

A longer-term pathway to gigawatt-scale data centre capacity would evolve as Aurora’s solar generation and BESS are built out.

The operator has been granted exclusivity over an initial 0.4 square kilometre development parcel within Aurora’s 15.8 sq km landholding.

The development includes up to 900 megawatts of solar generation potential, an approved 140MW (280 megawatt hours) BESS, high-voltage connection infrastructure, and associated land, fibre, and water access.

AI Compute Infrastructure

1414 and its partner intend to negotiate definitive agreements for the co-location of AI compute infrastructure at the Aurora precinct.

The agreements will include access to land, behind-the-metre renewable energy, battery storage, grid connection infrastructure, and associated services.

The parties have committed to working with SA Power Networks, ElectraNet, and other relevant stakeholders to progress connection and transmission arrangements.

The Aurora Energy Precinct is a large-scale, master-planned energy and industrial site near Port Augusta being progressed by 1414 Degrees and representing a development-ready opportunity for a range of commercial energy initiatives.

It covers approximately 16 sq km of Crown lease land, strategically positioned to support the emerging requirements of AI-driven data centres and other high-energy industries seeking large-scale, reliable, and low-carbon power solutions.
