Antares Metals (ASX: AM5) is preparing to follow-up a number of highly prospective targets on the back of continued exploration success at its Mt Isa North copper and uranium project in northwest Queensland.

The company is now ranking areas for further assessment after recent field studies it conducted over high-ranking copper prospects.

Antares has so far identified strong copper mineralisation potential through field activities at Startle, Moonside and Conglomerate Creek.

High-Grade Hits

Recent field work at the Startle prospect identified high-grade results such as 22.3% copper, while activities at Moonside revealed a copper mineralised multi-vein system outcropping over 240 metres at surface and returned samples of up to 16% copper.

Antares is also assessing other copper prospects around Mt Isa North, recently completing initial reconnaissance work at the Julius, Calton Hills and Hero South prospects.

The company will now use analysis of the geological data and ground truthing of prospective areas in its design of future work programs.

Encouraging Results

Chief executive officer Johan Lambrechts said the continued exploration successes provide further encouragement as the company accelerates its exploration efforts.

“The systematic and geology-driven exploration of our Mt Isa North projects continues to pay dividends as our ‘boots on the ground’ mantra delivers another strong set of results from Startle and Moonside,” he said.

“This being our first exploration season on the project means there is a lot of physical ground to cover to properly rank the myriad of targets and prospects we’ve identified.”

New ‘Marvel” Target

The latest results at Mt Isa North follow a successful June quarter for Antares across its Queensland portfolio including the discovery of a new target named “Marvel” 1.2km north of the Surprise project.

The company believes the discovery is distinct from the high-grade, structurally controlled mineralisation of the Surprise copper mine and represents a potentially large-scale, new mineralisation type for the project.

This follows a Phase 2 reverse circulation program comprising 1,384m Antares conducted at Surprise that identified high-grade rock chips up to 26% Copper, and a separate campaign that unearthed 18% copper hits at the Conglomerate Creek copper/gold prospect.

Antares also defined a number of high priority uranium targets in its review of Mt Isa, and immediately commenced field validation activities at the project.
