Alto Metals (ASX: AME) has reported strong gold results from first pass drilling at the Cessna prospect located at the southern extent of the Indomitable Camp, within the Sandstone gold project in Western Australia.

Two reverse circulation holes were completed to verify historical aircore drilling conducted in the 1990s by BMA and Troy Resources.

The work targeted gold mineralisation intersected below the historical targets and delivered assays of 16m at 7.2 grams per tonne gold from 65m including 4m at 24g/t gold from 74m.

Best results were 4m at 2.0g/t gold from 58m; 1m at 28.8g/t from 74m; 1m at 21.7g/t from 75m; 1m at 23.1g/t from 76m; 1m at 23.4g/t gold from 77m; and 8m at 2.0g/t from 70m including 1m at 11.8g/t gold from 71m.

Banded iron formation

Mineralisation was intersected in the oxide zone and appears to be associated with a quartz-veined banded iron formation in contact with strongly oxidised mafic and ultramafic units.

It remains open and Alto said further drilling is warranted to determine the nature and extent of the mineralisation.

The new results complement historical aircore assays at Cessna of 12m at 3.1g/t gold from 60m including 6m at 5.2g/t from 60m; 30m at 1.0g/t gold from 40m including 10m at 2.0g/t from 44m; 15m at 1.3g/t gold from 5m including 7m at 2.1g/t from 7m; 14m at 1.3g/t gold from 21m including 1m at 6.5g/t from 31m.

Extending the footprint

Drilling completed by Alto over the last 12 months has extended the oxide gold mineralised footprint at Indomitable to over 3 kilometres in strike and open in all directions.

The latest results support the company’s view that the size and scale of oxide mineralisation at Indomitable is a “strong indication” of a much larger system.

Alto recently announced a significant increase to the mineral resource estimate at Sandstone, outlining an optimised and pit-constrained 17.6 million tonnes at 1.5g/t gold for 832,000 ounces within $2500 per ounce pit shells.

The update included rapid resource growth at Indomitable Camp with an almost tripling in size to 5.4Mt at 1.2g/t gold for 210,000oz.

The Indomitable Camp sits within a 20km northwest-to-southeast trending gold corridor which also hosts the Vanguard and Havilah deposits within the ‘Alpha Domain’ priority target area.
