The second phase of reverse circulation drilling at Alto Metals’ (ASX: AME) Indomitable Camp in Western Australia has intersected gold at widths of up to 15 metres, both near surface and at depth.

In previous announcements, Alto Metals had noted that about 90% of resource drilled at those earlier stages was found at depths of less than 150m.

Now, the company says the high-grade gold mineralisation has been intercepted both near to surface and at depth in fresh rock.

That primary mineralisation has been found at various depths, in some cases more than 250m from surface.

The Indomitable Camp lies within the company’s 100% owned Sandstone gold project.

First time deep structures drilled

In the oxide zone, the RC drilling results include 15m at 3.1 grams per tonne gold from 32m down hole (including 8m at 5.0g/t and 1m at 22.2g/t), another hole returning 15m at 2.1g/t gold (including 1m at 18.9g/t) and a third hole reporting 16m at 1.2g/t gold (including 1m at 9.8g/t).

In the fresh rock, drilling hit gold zones at depths of between 93m and 283m.

Assays include 11m at 1.0g/t gold (including 2m at 2.7g/t), 6m at 2.2g/t gold (including 1m at 6.4g/t) and 3m at 4.9g/t gold (including 1m at 12.9g/t).

Managing director Matthew Bowles said this second phase of drilling at Indomitable was, for the first time, targeting the interpreted structures at depth.

Mineralisation open at depth

This drilling also intersected shallow high-grade in the oxide zone but, more importantly, has hit gold in multiple shallow dipping structures at depth in fresh rock, Mr Bowles added.

“Our drilling has shown that the mineralisation remains open at depth with higher grades typically observed where these faults intersect the steeper plunging interpreted targets.”

A further seven assays are still awaited from the 5,000m second phase drilling program.

The company is planning, once those final assays are in, to begin diamond drilling to obtain more information on the mineralised structure.

There will also be more RC drilling undertaken.

The Sandstone project is located in the East Murchison region of Western Australia, and the mineral resource now contains 832,000oz gold at 1.5g/t.
