All rock chips collected from Aldoro’s three key targets returned highly anomalous results warranting follow-up.

Multi-element explorer Aldoro Resources (ASX: ARN) has reported highly-anomalous results from rock chip sampling at the Wyemandoo Pegmatite Swarm, Narndee Igneous Complex and Quandong Well volcanic-hosted massive sulphide (VHMS) targets, near Mount Magnet in Western Australia.

Twenty samples were collected from three key target types of lithium-caesium-tantalum pegmatites, magmatic nickel-copper, and VHMS copper-gold.

Samples from Wyemandoo confirmed the central pegmatite contains high-grade rubidium and highly-anomalous lithium, with best results of 0.8% rubidium, 0.81% lithium and 219 parts per million caesium.

At Narndee Gossan 1, located over an ultramafic package in a northwest-trending structural corridor, samples returned 0.16% copper and 921ppm nickel, while results from Gossan 2 returned 187ppm copper and 470ppm nickel.

CRA Buckets Gossan, located over an ultramafic package of the Kiabye Greenstone Belt and considered highly prospective for nickel, copper, and gold, returned peak values of 0.16% nickel, 27ppb palladium and 81ppm copper.

Copper-gold outcrop

Samples from Quandong Well confirmed a copper-gold gossanous outcrop at Zone B, returning 1.93 grams per tonne gold and 0.45% copper.

The area was originally explored by BHP (ASX: BHP) subsidiary Dampier Mining Co in the early 1970s, and several copper gossans were found to be hosted by banded iron formation and quartzite in a country-rock of schists of varied composition.

The schists are interpreted to be altered felsic to mafic volcanic and volcaniclastic rocks.

Dampier drilled 31 holes for 1,731 metres with significant copper, zinc, and gold results reported in oxide phases close to the surface, grading into a sulphide assemblage of pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite at depth.

The results are yet to be compiled and validated.

Forward plan

Aldoro said it planned to complete systematic rock chip and soil sampling programs and detailed mapping over the Wyemandoo Pegmatite Swarm to identify prospective zones for drill targeting and locate pegmatite strike extensions and occurrences under soil cover.

Field reconnaissance and field mapping with continue to locate and assess all areas of the tenement package for lithium-caesium-tantalum pegmatites, nickel gossans and copper-gold gossans.

Open file data compilation will continue in an attempt to build on the surface geochemical dataset, which the company considers to be inadequate over most of the tenement package.

Soil and rock chip sampling will be undertaken to augment and verify the dataset.
