Aeromagnetic surveys identify new WA gold-nickel targets for OZZ Resources
OZZ Resources has identified two priority ultramafic-hosted nickel targets at the Rabbit Bore project.
Aeromagnetic surveys over the Rabbit Bore gold-base metals and Peterwangy gold projects in Western Australia have identified multiple new and prospective gold-nickel targets for owner OZZ Resources (ASX: OZZ).
The surveys defined the interpreted extent of favourable greenstone lithologies and pinpointed a host of gold-base metal targets as a focus for the company’s next phase of exploration.
Data generated has allowed OZZ to undertake detailed analysis of the magnetic characteristics of the two projects and will be followed up with geological mapping, further surveys and a geochemical sampling program.
Rabbit Bore results
The Rabbit Bore survey showed the known prospective greenstone rock package outcropping in the south of the tenement extends for over 4 kilometres undercover to the north.
Several north-northeast oriented shear zones and lithology contacts are also present with cross-cutting structural features, indicating an environment which is highly prospective for gold mineralisation.
OZZ said the results validated the interpreted north-northeast trending greenstone rock package bound by granite of low magnetic signature to the west, and a more magnetic granite suite to the east cut by an east-west trending dolerite dyke.
A major north-northeast trending shear structure was evident with flexures in the structure considered prospective and worthy of further assessment.
Peterwangy geometry
At Peterwangy, the survey data was able to better define the geometry of the area, which is now interpreted as being more irregular and complex than previously thought.
OZZ said the surface expression of the prospective greenstone package has been largely obscured by laterites and recent cover and the new information will enable better targeting of follow-up exploration.
Maguire maiden drilling
OZZ recently completed a maiden drilling campaign at the highly-prospective Maguires gold project in WA’s Central Murchison region, comprising 45 reverse circulation holes for a total 4,300m.
Drilling was designed to validate previous results from the Old Prospect and to test for extensions along strike and down-dip.
First assays are expected next month.
Follow-up drill programs will be planned to test the nearby Maguires Reward prospect and to further expand the footprint of any mineralisation defined in the campaign.
