African gold explorer Tietto Minerals’ (ASX: TIE) Abujar project continues to generate “exceptional” high-grade and thick gold intersections with latest results returning up to 160.06 grams per tonne gold.

An intensive 30,000m diamond drilling campaign is underway at the project with a resource upgrade scheduled to be released before the end of the year.

Latest assays from the campaign returned 20m at 14.8g/t gold from 42m, including 1m at 128.52g/t gold from 55m, and 1m at 160.06g/t gold from 56m.

Meanwhile, drilling also unearthed a thick 82m intercept grading 3.14g/t gold from 26m, including 26m at 9.48g/t gold from 83m, 1m at 60.79g/t gold from 83m, and 1m at 165.81g/t gold from 84m.

According to the company, the results extend a zone of shallow, ultra-high-grade mineralisation within the Cote d’Ivoire project’s Abujar-Gludehi deposit.

“Once again, we are very pleased to report more wide exceptionally high-grade intercepts at Abujar-Gludehi,” Tietto managing director Dr Caigen Wang said.

“Our three diamond drills continue to hit wide high-grade intervals on section after section.”

Dr Wang noted that since May this year, the company had double the number of intervals it had unearthed that contained more than 50g/t gold to 31.

He said the company had now firmed up at least 500m of ultra-high-grade results, with five intervals exceeding 200g/t, indicating the potential for a high-grade open pit gold resource with “robust project economics”.

Advancing Abujar

Late last month, Tietto revealed drilling at Abujar had uncovered 10m at 10.78g/t from 166m, including 1m at 100.39g/t from 174m; and 17m at 3.27g/t gold from 40m, including 1m at 46.74g/t gold.

Dr Wang said today’s and previous results revealed the high-grade mineralisation continued outside of the project’s current resource.

The global Abujar resource contains 1.7 million ounces of contained gold, with the higher-grade Abujar-Gludehi deposit accounting for 15.7Mt at 2.01g/t gold for 1.06Moz.

This morning’s news pushed Tietto’s share price up almost 16% to trade at $0.255 mid-morning.
